dan 0 Posted December 23, 2002 Hi Guys, Anyone see Top Gear last night? That R32 looks a nice pice of kit. It's about time VW brought out a serious hatchback with some street cred. I think they lost their way a little, when you look at their recent advertisments 'some things are better left alone'. Ironicially the R32 looks a cross between all three of the cars used in that ad. The thing that p's me off is the R32 has 240bhp and is group 17. My VR6 has 190bhp and is group 18, bummer or what? Maybe the Corrado is a higher group because it still looks better! :D Have a happy Christmas everyone... Darren
VR6 0 Posted December 23, 2002 I think the insurance group is mainly attibutable to the cost to repair a Corrado. Mk 4 golf parts should be easy to come by.
dan 0 Posted December 23, 2002 Hi VR6, I see what you mean about the insurance groups, that should make the Subaru impretza about group 2 cause they seem to be more common than the Focus. :) Only joking.
Jim 2 Posted December 24, 2002 I believe the cost of insurance relates to a number of things.. as much as it bugs me to admit it. I think some factors that contribute to high insurance for the Corrado are : * Was a very regularly stolen car up until a few years ago.. * Quite rare.. only 9000 were ever bought into the UK.. how many do you think are left now? * Very expensive to fix should something go wrong, compared to say a Ford Focus. * Still has quite brisk performance compared to some cars on the road! And thats why we get eaten alive by the insurance companies..
