Bolt Locations. Once these bolts are in place, fitting the struts will be a simple case of screwing them in to place.

Bolt locations originally figured out by ChrisVR6 NOS (Chris) I found that there are spot welds along the side of the bonnet and the hole was drilled half into the spot weld, this made sure that there was a thread once tapped goin through a double skin to allow sufficient thickness to hold the stress once the gas lifters were fitted. The lifters are from a MKIII Golf ans are an INXX version sourced from Eurocarparts for £19 when i bought them.

Establishing bonnet fixing point

Fit the wing fixing in place and clip the gas strut on with the ram facing the rear of the bonnet. Lift it up as far as it will go before it pops of the wing fixing, this will give you the bonnet location to drill. Note: the bonnet needs to be lifted to it's full opening position which it a fair bit higher than the resting position on the bonnet prop!
