You Will Need

Car Jack (optional but will make it easier)

Flat screwdriver

New Jubilee Clips 12-15mm

New Fuel filter ~ £10

16mm Socket & extension

WD-40

All purpose Grease (optional)

Method

Take off the petrol cap to depressurise it then put it back on.

Put the handbrake on and jack up the car on the drivers side, if you are at standard ride height this may not be neccessary. Have a look under just infront of the rear wheel (on the drivers side) and you'll see a bracket holding the filter in place.

Looking up and the bottom of the car just behind the rear wheel you'll see this.

A bracket hold the cylindrical filter in place and there is a feed pipe coming from the fuel tank and pump and then another pipe going up towards the engine.

I took the bracket off first this meant that I had more room for sliding the fuel pipes off. There is a large 16mm nut at each end of the bracket, spray plenty of WD40 on and undo them.I found these nuts to be on pretty tight and it took quite a bit of force to take them off.

Once the bracket is unsecured it can't be taken off as the pipes are in the way. Spray WD40 on the clips and loosen them right off with the flat screwdriver. The pipes should come off now, take the once closest to the front of the car off first. I found twisting them with a pair of long nose pliars helped at this stage but be careful not to shred the pipe to pieces. Once you have the first pipe off fuel will trickle out, do not be alarmed! Empty the fuel out of the filter as well.

Take the pipe off at the other end, again fuel will come out ( a little more this time) you can choose to collect it if you want. In all you will loose no more than 500ml of fuel.

Once you have the filter and bracket out you can slide the old filter out of the bracket and put the new one in, make a note of which way the arrow is pointing on the old filter and follow suit with the new one. The arrow points towards the front of the car.

Slide your new jubilee clips onto the fuel pipes and then (with the aid of some grease) slide the pipes onto the new filter making sue it's the right war around! Tighten up the jubilee clips. Refit the bracket to the underside of the car, and you're done.

Start the car up, it may take a little longer than usual as the fuel fills up the filter etc.
