Lupo wipers
From THE Corrado Forum Knowledge Base
You will need the following:
- Medium size flat head screwdriver
- 13mm spanner
Sadly, the wipers are no longer available from VAG or GPC as a set (arm and blade), so you'll need to buy the seperate parts as follows:
| Qty | Part number | Description | Price (as of July 2005) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2x | 6x2 955 410c | Driver's side arms | £35.78 ea. |
| 1x | 6x2 955 426 | Passenger side blade | £12.33 |
| 1x | 1J2 955 425B | Driver's side blade | £12.87 |
If needs be, you can actually use the passenger side arm and blade, or 2 driver's arms and blades - they will just about fit. However, the above combination gives an almost-perfect match with the original blades.
This lot comes to around £96 but if you ask for discount you should be able to get them for around the £75 mark, especially as this whole conversion used to cost about £33 all in!
You can also use 2 blades from a Mk4 Golf that will fit and are a bit cheaper than the Lupo arms:
| Qty | Part number | Description | Price (inc VAT as of Feb 2006) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2x | VW1 J29 554 25B | wiper blade | £10.48 inc VAT |
You may also want to order a pair of 1J0 955 205 A 01C which are the plastic caps for the arms.
So let's begin
Before you start, take a note of where the arm (not blade) of wiper arm is in relation to the bottom of the windscreen.
Lift the bonnet and use the screwdriver to remove the plastic cap on the wiper rotor.
Use the 13mm spanner to remove nut, remove whole arm assembly.
Put new arm on into position noted from above.
Re-attach nut, making sure you don't over tighten it. Give it a test and then when you're happy you got the arm in the right place, replace the plastic cover.
If you're fitting the blades separately, (i.e. not as part of the arm/blade kit) then it is obvious which way round the blades go - if you put them on the wrong sides, they'll hit each other in the middle.
Enjoy smear free wet weather driving!
Here you can see the difference it makes. The arm on the left is a relatively new standard fit Bosch item, on the right is the new Lupo arm and blade
