I spoke to pitstop yesterday and they suggested removing all the boost hoses, the I/C, the throttle body and the inlet manifold and cleaning throroughly. I'm going to wash it all through with kerosene or something similar and see what falls out. Hopefully that'll sort it. Gotta find a charger first. It's not a nice sound when you hear the charger blow itself apart, something I don't want to be repeating.

This is a picture of my charger after it decided to grenade itself. I am running the standard pulley and this charger has done under 25k miles, with regular oil and filter changes (max 6k miles). apparently it was rebuilt by, you've guessed it, Jabbashite. I am on the look out for a new one or a reconditioned on if anyone knows of any going anywhere. I think it is safe to say that mine is furked.

I've just tried the method of using the MFA to measure the boost from the charger, but the results don't add up. Firstly the idle reading is 245-250, instead of 450-470, and secondly the peak figure reached at 5800rpm in second, third and fourth is 916. What does this mean? any ideas? Also a question about my heater - The heater works well normally but if I drive fast/at high rpms for a period of time the heating goes cold, it then warms up again when I drive slowly again. Why is this? does it mean that the thermostat is not working properly and is is not opening until the engine is really hot, meaning that is not enough coolant in the system, or does it mean that I have an airlock somewhere? Lastly I've still struggling to find the cause of a knocking noise that I get when cornering. Peopel have suggested wheel bearing, CV joints and driveshaft. I said before that I have looked underneath and also a garage has looked at the car. I and they could not find any play in any part of the dirvetrain. (other than a little bit of movement in the o/s half of the diff). The wheels have no play when jacked up. There is no knocking noise heard when spinning the wheels on full lock when jacked up. I' taken off the cv gaiters to check if the joints were dry, they had plenty of grease inside. The noise only happens above 30mph, but is most audible above 45mph coasting with the cllutch pressed in. Any ideas anyone, anything else I should explore before I take it to another garage or even worse the stealer for another opinion. Thanks

This problem is still unsolved, I've taken it to a garage and they cannot find any play anywhere in the drivetrain or suspension that shouldn't be there. Has any one got any ideas? Could it be that the CV joints are a bit dry of grease? or the driveshaft splines need greasing? Any ideas. Thanks.

Right I've done a few checks, but still have found nothing, all four wheel bearings feel tight - no play, no play in driveshafts at all, there is however some play in the top mounts. I think there should be some, and it does not seem to be excessive. What else am I looking at? front or rear wishbone/lower suspension arm bushes? Could the problem with the wheel bearings only show when they are under the increased load you would get on the outside wheel when cornering? What do you think?

Yesterday I removed my 9x16 alloys and replaced them with the standard ones, now there is a pronounced knocking noise when going round lefthand bends  . I imagine that I just could not here it amongst all the other knocking and banging that I got with the wide wheels on, so canging the wheels is prob unrelated. What do you think this noise could be, it is a quite loud, but dull sounding knock knock sound that increases with speed, I can also feel it in the footwell. I cannot hear or feel it at all below 15mph. When going straight there is no noticeable noise or knock, but as soon as the wheels are turned the slightest bit to the left the noise appears. What are the possibilities? CV joint(s)? Driveshaft? ball joints? Anti-roll bar bushes? Top mounts? Any ideas? My car is a Rallye as the name suggests. Another topic, how can you tell if your cars has body work done during its life, what are the tell tale signs? Thanks

that was a seriously quick reply, thanks Kev, I'll check it out tomorrow.

Hello, the temperature display on my MFA reads -40 all the time. This would suggest that the sensor is knackered, right? Now I know this is a corrado forum but I was wondering if anyone would know where this sensor is on a golf rallye, and where I can get a replacement one from (VAG only or not?). Does anyone know if the sensor serves any other purpose than measuring the temperature for the dash display, is it required by the ecu for any reason? Is it easy to replace? Thanks Geoff

Lately the clutch in my rallye is being a bit weird, sometimes it has freeplay until only just above the carpet - very low biting point, other times it feels perfectly normal, minimal freeplay middleish biting point. I took the car to VW and they said nothing was wrong, but the clutch cover/pressure plate might be in the way out. I found this strange as I thought a symptom of this would be slipping clutch, not the low biting point and clunking gerachanges that I experience. When I went out in it today it was fine for 30 miles, but then started clunking on gearshifts occasionally. It got much worse just after I had been caning it for a few miles at high speed. The pedal was dropping almost to the floor and not really disengaging the clutch properly. It stayed like this for about 15 minutes, then returned to normalish. It still had a tendency to clunk when changing down through the box. Any ideas? When it first did this I tried bleeding the clutch system, this didn't seem to have much of an effect, maybe slight, but any effect was not permanent. The fluid level in the reservoir does not seem to drop at all either as you might expect if the slave or master was leaking. What do you think?? thanks in advance.

I hope I am welcome here, don't mean to offend but I am not a corrado owner, I drive a rallye. This forum is full of good G60 info. A lot of info that is too good to be missed. My question is in the title, does anyone know anywhere in the Oxfordshire region where I can get the arches on my ride rolled. My tyres rub nastily at the backl and I need to get it sorted. Thanks in advance.
