Brunty's Dad started following NS fog and indicator, three hole/2 hole manifold plate, Maf and and 7 others

Some years ago I fitted a SS 6 Branch manifold to my VR6. Catastrophic failure of the manifold recently which my local Longlife did a good job of welding in situ. However, I am still getting exhaust fumes drifting up into the car and the tickover is lumpy when warm. I surmise that although the welding has made the car drive-able the leak is upsetting the lambda sensor and I am considering going back to the original manifold setup. My problem is that when the original 6 branch was fitted it came with a 3 hole to 2 hole conversion plate, subsequently I have had a new SS exhaust fitted and both of the new fittings are 2 hole Forlorn hope really, does anyone have a conversion plate in the bottom of a drawer somewhere? or know where I can get one?

The car is a VR6 1995. Cone filter fits to standard part so no problems there. Part number(s) appreciated.

I don't know the correct terms for the part that I am after, so I'll try to describe. I have removed the panel filter and replaced it with a cone. I am trying to find the replacement "large bore ducting" from the filter to the intake in the head - if that makes sense. The original developed air leaks and is patched up with duct tape. Not pretty and not entirely effective. If there is no prospect of a replacement via the forum I would appreciate the correct terminology so that I can do a Google search.

Remember that it was a ******* ti fit. Can't afford £45 per hour garage costs so I think best course of action is to cut the six branch off and fit the original pattern.

Lack of space to store the original, had to go.

Corrado blowing like a tractor as of yesterday. Garage checked for me this morning and the 6 branch has split just forward of the connecting flange. Seems I have a choice between a new 6 branch or reverting to an original manifold but not sure whether the original downpipe uses a compatible fitting to cat pipe . Quite a few new 6 branch on ebay but all advertised for Golf 2.8 VR6, the Corrado is not listed among the compatible vehicles, and any that say for 2.9 VR6 are more expensive than I can justify. I would be interested to know if the 2.8 will fit.

My VR6 gear knob is in a sorry state. Offered gear stick on online sales group but seller has now decided he is not selling. Can anyone help please. If not are any other VW models compatible?

After 18 months SORN my VR6 sailed through the MOT and it feels really good to have some real grunt under my foot again. The bodywork is generally in excellent condition with the exception of the offside wheel arch. The body shop tell me that if the rust is coming through from inside it may require welding so I am looking for a good condition wing in any colour. Also some advice, how easy/difficult is replacing a wing. If I can get a wing sprayed off the car and fit it myself it would save a lot of money.

Thanks, wish I could remember how I posted them. -
My VR6 turned out to be a Category C when I listed it on Autotrader. This came as a total surprise as I had never been given any reason to suspect that the car was damaged repaired.(A bit like finding out that your wife/girlfriend of many years standing has a criminal record from before you met) The fact that it has passed 14 MOTs since what ever happened must mean something. Generally in good condition for its age, full respray in May 2014 including inside boot, door reveals and under bonnet. A new windscreen was fitted in 2017.The car was SORN in June last year when the MOT was done and a recon ABS pump was fitted.. Present mileage is 169K and it still performs well. Although there is only limited service history servicing has been done by a family member who is a VW Mechanic. The car is lowered on GAZ fully adjustable coilovers and has a set of nearly new Uniroyal Rain Sports tyres on 16” two part BBS wheels, which are in need of a refurb. In January last year a new stainless exhaust and cat was fitted by Longlife exhausts and comes with a transferable guarantee, it also has a heat wrapped stainless steel 6 branch exhaust manifold It has a full black leather interior in reasonable condition other than a small tear in the drivers backrest bolster, the seat bolster has not collapsed. The sunroof works both tilt and slide and the spoiler also works using the internal dashboard switch but not the speed sensor which I believe was disabled by a previous owner. The car comes with an additional set of the original 15” wheels with legal tread. The radio has been replaced by a Pure DAB unit with an internal aerial. The car is situated in Powys on the Shropshire border. I live on a large private estate and although the Car is SORN it can be demonstrated on a speed restricted private drive. I am not very computer literate and I have struggled to upload photos can email if required Just remembered, new coil pack 3 weeks ago.

Plenty, but I can't upload onto this site for some reason

Last year's bump was a car park incident. Replacement fog light and a bumper respray. Very minor and no evidence of work being done. Perhaps I should rephrase the question: by what ball park percentage does cat c reduce the asking price?
-
As it was registered cat c in 2004 it has been through 14 MOTs since then so obviously road worthy. I have no details of the original insurance claim and only know that the registration number was used for cat c but no VIn

panels are straight and no deformity in engine bay or boot floor. The original advert on Autotrader did not mention insurance category and there is nothing on the V5 Generally in good condition for its age, full respray in May 2014 including inside boot, door reveals and under bonnet. A new windscreen was fitted in 2017.The car was SORN in June this year when the MOT was done and a recon ABS ECU was fitted.. In January this year a new stainless exhaust from the stainless heat wrapped 6 branch manifold back was fitted by Longlife exhausts and comes with a transferable guarantee. It has a full black leather interior in reasonable condition other than a small tear in the drivers backrest bolster, the seat bolster has not collapsed. The sunroof works both tilt and slide and the spoiler also works using the internal dashboard switch but not the speed sensor which I believe was disabled by a previous owner. The car comes with an additional set of the original 15” wheels with plenty of tread left and also various spares currently in the boot and including a fuel pump and door seals. The radio has been replaced by a Pure DAB unit with an internal aerial I now have no idea of the car's value, any advice would be appreciated

Sad to report, my Corrado days are over and after Getting it MOT'd I shall be putting it up for sale. Among my spares I have a brand new sealed in plastic bag in tank fuel pump. Bought from Eurocarparts, current price with discount is £79 delivered. Open to offers before trying Ebay.
