Mouser replied to davevw's topic in Parts for Sale
Is this your best price mate? Little out of my budget, don't need tyres if that can bring the price down? -
Looking for speedline to fit 96 VR6. Cash waiting if price is right.

Hi there, I'm a new owner and a novice. Im there are some wheels I like for my 96 reg Corrado VR6. They are 5x100 et15 9x16 wheels with 215/40/16 tyres. Will that fit on a standard ride height car? If not what measures can be taken to get them to fit ? Spacers, adaptor a, arch mods? And what kind of costs can be incurred? I was going to ask on the thread but I'm viewing them tomorrow.

Hi there recently removed an old cone filter previous owner had left on and have reverted to an original airbox and K&N panel filter. It seems better on the pick up, but the noise is pretty much gone all together now. Is there a happy medium? What are my options? Exhaust systems will give off a different note. Does drilling the airbox make it much louder? Is it worth whacking on another cone and switching back to standard when I'm bored? Will a nice exhaust system help? I'm not interested in taking the suitcase off and all that as it's too loud, any suggestions you have are appreciated.

VR6 starting but then cutting out - not every time though

The fuel that originally was in would've been old but my sons been running high octane through it for a month now. -

Ok thanks lads. I'll have a tinker tomorrow, it's booked in to the stage for Tuesday aswell so I'll pass on this info to the mech to plant some ideas for him. I'll keep you all posted, thanks for taking the time to reply, we can help with PC's in this house but not cars haha! -

Other notes- it was sat for a long time, and the fuel pump was cleared of crap, had new leads, spark plugs too. -
Hi there, my son recently bought a Corrado VR6 1996 reg with almost 70k on the clock. Being completely honest with you he's a bit out of his depth as everyone in the household is useless with cars, and looking online in google all the help sections I see explain it jargon and acronyms we can't make head nor tail of, a chap in work said the guys here are very helpful so I thought I drop by. The Corrado starts up, and then cuts out unless revs are kept really high. The car will stay running if you set off in gear and keep the revs high for a short time. It doesn't happen everytime it starts though which is what's confusing us, it's done it in cold and warm starts so I haven't a clue what to check. Last night it got worse and starting cutting out, he pulled off in gear, got a short distance and it died again, when he tried to start it up it wasn't even firing your could hear it trying to start, it was only after pumping the gas as we turned the ignition it finally started up again. Any idea what could be causing this? If you could helpme in idiots terms that would be helpful, or even just some suggestions I could pass on to the mechanic in the garage. Thanks very, very much in advance. Also one last thing, is the radiator fan meant to stay on for a few minutes after the cars been turned off?
-
Afternoon gents, My radiator fan that comes on when stopped is now making loads of noise, ive looked, and it appears to be a 'rubber seal'or O-ring on the centre of the fan come loose, so im assuming its running dry, which is grim. I've taken a video for those who really need to see/hear it, but i'd have to make an account on a vid host website, but you can see the ring is loose. If you're leaning under the bonnet, it's on the fan on your right. I'm useless under the bonnet but have the funds. Should it not be driven?

Thanks mate bought that one straight up. Case closed :)

See title, looking for a standard airbox set-up, pref. unmolested. To fit a 96 VR6. Cash waiting.

Thanks for all the replies guys, its going in to the garage tomorrow and i've mentioned what i think the problem could be. It seems to come on at 110, should it be going that high?

Hi there guys, For a week or two now my oil light has been coming on and beeping and annoying the **** out of me. The car is 96 reg VR6 standard engine, 66k mileage. There seems to be no pattern to it coming on, it may be prolonged use and when cruising at a set speed, as it stops SOMETIMES when i put my foot down. - Checked the oil, healthy colour, healthy level. Getting it changed next week as part of a mechanical novices trial and error program. - The engine will not be getting cooled as much as i'd like to as the previous owner has left me with a rusty old cone filter, so reverting back to a standard set-up box on payday. - The car was sat for a number of years before returning to daily use. I can't say i've noticed what revs or conditions trigger it. I'm no mechanic so could use a little advice here. Thanks in advance
-
Thanks! The wheels on it are some OZ ones, of my old Seat Ibiza. They were put on as a stop-gap between getting some new wheels and removing the old rims the previous owner left on them (some nasty Halfords ones).

Hi all here's my Corrado. VR6, only 66k on the clock. I have a debadged grill and some new rear lights to fit and i'd also like some new wheels but here she is!
-
Woops, Should have said it's a 96 reg VR6, 65K on clock if it matters.

Hello, i'm a new Corrado owner and i'm looking for all the parts to go back to a standard airbox set-up. I've had a look on ebay, found only one. I'd need all the parts included pipes and hoses to do this, the filter itself is not a worry. Also looking for some rear lights, as i've said i'm new here so don't know whats available. I'd like ones like them red and clear 'Dectane' ones found on ebay, or smoked or all red. Just no 'lexus' style ones please, if you have any spare then get in touch.

Sorry you're going to have to enlighten me a bit, im not very mechanically capable but i have the money to get the work done. I've been reading through this post, and all the acronyms are confusing me? I have a Corrado VR6 and the previous owner has left a ghastly cone filter in there which is visibly shagged, i'd like to go back to the original set up. In short, i need an idiots guide on what to buy. I can get hold of an undrilled standard airbox but i'm unsure if i need any pipes, and then theres the question of water panel filter to put inside. I'm not particularly bothered about power gains as in previous cars i've noticed very little, but i feel this old c.filter is having a detrimental effect on the running of my car, due to heatsoak.

Hi, Was just wondering what the score is for missing rubber seals? the one on my passenger door is loose and the one under the windscreen appears to be absent :/ As i can hear wind coming through, and the car gets very misty. I have no idea what to do with things like this, what have you guys done in the past? Can they simply be replaced?
-
Hi, yeap hopefully as i still have them few minor problems to sort out. I'm from the North Wales coast, between Wrexham, Liverpool and Chester.
-
Thanks for welcome guys, i've updated my original post too.

Yes it is, wanted one ince i was a youngster. Only owned one VW before and that was a 1993 Polo coupe catalyst when i was 17, less said about that the better! Yeap, i'll have some later today.

Hello there! New Corrado VR6 owner here, i'm trying to upload i picture here but i'm told its too big. If anyone can specify the criteria pics need to be, i can get them on here! It's Grey with 65k on the clock, and has been garaged by it's previous owner. The car has had the plugs, leads, coil pack and fuel pump changed. It's currently running through redex as well. It has a few other issues, if anybody can help with that would be cool. - The passenger door rubber exterior seal is coming away from the door so that will need sorted. - The sunroof seal is preventing the main sunroo opening fully, it tilts open fine. - The Windscreen seal is completely absent, is this a windscreen replacement jobby? - The oil light comes on now and again, oil level is fine and could probably do with an oil change. - I'd like to get a standard airbox back, as some pleb has fitted a huge cone filter and it looks shagged. - Missing a parcel shelf Out of interest what oil do you guys run your VRs on? Other than them few teething problems, car has zero rust, even on the arches and sills. The paint laquer has peeled in places. Spoiler and all electrics work fine, it's an amazing car to drive! Look forward to getting to know a few of you!
