  1. For the past year I've had no end of running problems and have chucked money at my G60 like you wouldn't believe, then it finally packed up...It turned out that the Fuel Injection System Relay was breaking down - a couple of dabs of solder and it now runs like a dream!!! Now idea how much a new relay will cost, but I'm heading to VW tomorrow to pick up one so can let u know. If you've got a mate with a G60 it can't hurt to borrow his/her relay to give it a go??? It may even be standard accross the VW range???
  2. Can you just confirm that the front disks don't require the bearings to be replaced as they are not part of the hub. However, the rear disks do require the bearings to be changed as the hub and disk are one and they are pressed rather than tapered bearings. Thanks.
  3. Finally got my corrado running after 2 months off the road, but now I need to change the disc’s and pads all round. Couple of questions; 1. Are either the front or rear discs pressed onto the wheel bearings??? The new rear discs look like the wheel bearings are pressed into them. 2. Do I need a windback tool for the rear pads or will the pistons just push back into the calipers??? Thanks for your help.
  4. Last time I actually drove it, just prior to cutting out it all of the relays started clicking like mad...reckon the cars possessed??? I've changed the hall sender, to be fair the only thing I haven't changed is the driver  Any ideas???
  5. If it starts and that a huge if...it seems to run for a few minutes before it cuts out. It's a 92 G60 if that makes any odds??? Definately petrol being pumped, I've turned it over with the fuel sender pipe disconnected and it p's petrol, just not getting a spark from the main lead from the coil to the dizzy cap.
  6. Replaced the ignition switch and it made no difference, also done the ignition coil. Any other ideas???
  7. Basically, I've intermittent starting problems and if I'm lucky enough that the car does start it only runs for 5 mins or so before cutting out. When the car won't start the fuel pump is working, but there's no spark. I've replaced the ignition coil and the ignition switch and everything now seems to point at a dodgy immobiliser, but as I'm not 100% sure. I'm thinking an auto electrician should be able to check the immobiliser and for an electrical fault in general??? Would you agree??? If not any ideas??? Also, when checking the immobiliser out I found a live wire floating about in my engine bay...turned out to be the wire that goes to the bonnet pin, have no idea how it became unattached.
  8. Can anybody recommend a good auto electrician in the Maidenhead area??? Thanks.
  9. Still not got my G60 running. I've replaced the ignition coil and there's still no spark. The engine turns over but just doesn't fire up. There's 12v going to the coil, however, only 6 going to the hall sender (three wires on right hand side of dissy). Is this correct or should it be 12??? Reading other posts on the forum, everything seems to be pointing at the hall sender or the ignition switch. How can I test the hall sender???
  10. Well...broke down last night and it seems like the ignition coil has packed in. There's 12v going to the ignition coil at both connectors, yet I'm not getting a spark from the beast. I've checked the voltage at the hall sender end and it's only 6v, so I'm hoping this is the culprit. Ignition coil's only £15.75 from EuroCarParts and it's on the shelf so I'll be investing in one later today. Thanks for your help, I'll be back on here over the weekend if the cars still running shite!!!
  11. My G60 is pretty gutless under 4000 revs, but get it over 4k and it flies!!! It seems to be running rich as the plugs are sooty and I suspect it may be down to the lambda probe. Anybody had similar problems or agree on the Lambda probe??? If so, could you give me a step by step guide to replacing the blighter. Thanks.
  12. Mines on 122k bought it October 1997 with 55k, it's a 1992 G60
  13. Thanks for your response, here’s a better description of where you’ll find the pipes causing me grief... If you removed the black cap that’s located in the boot, you’ll see the fuel sender/return pipes on the top of the fuel pump. If you remove these, also the electric plug thingy, next twist the black plastic screw on cap and the top cap can be lifted from the fuel tank. This then reveals the 10in (ish) fuel pipes that are giving me major grief – they link the fuel pump cap to the actual pump. I’m still awaiting a call back from VW, so hopefully I’ll be able to get hold of a pair of the original pipes!?!?!? Thanks.
  14. Having problems with the fuel pump on my G60, it's located in the fuel tank. Connecting the fuel pump return and sender pipes (still in the tank) there are a couple of fuel pipes, approx 10in long, after a while in the tank they becoming drenched in fuel, go spongy and pop off of the pump. I've had them replaced at a local garage 3 times in the past couple of months and they've poped off again...Anybody got an idea of what pipe I should use??? Have called VW and am awaiting call back, but in the meantime can anybody help??? Thanks.
