when the wee plastoc cover was broken on my olf Mk3 VR6 I looked on ebay for a "bargain"... found someone selling a number of them for £4.50 + £1 postage each... phoned the dealer out of curiosity before I bought it and they were actually about £2 from the dealer and they had them in stock too.... sack ebay for a "bargain"! so that's 1 to the dealer! :D

feken location! :D my 16v Mk3 Golf was sold to a guy in London - easy jet flights to Aberdeen are cheap, and there is BA, BMI, Eastern Airways etc.... not to mention trains etc. I would travel to meet a genuine buyer in Edinburgh or Glasgow if it made things easier for someone and get a train back home ( would need to have my plate off the car before then though so I should get my ass in gear :D ...but this would mean no V5 as this has to be sent away when removing the plate - I'd have the green slip for the new keeper though)

I've had it up in the classifieds here for a week now, and it's on autotrader too @ £4450 ono. this makes it the cheapest Corrado VR6 on autotrader nationally with under 100k miles. There are cars on there with similar miles, incl auto's for more money, and most are older cars (92 - 94). Haven't had any firm interest other than requests for photos (which have now been posted) Anyone got any ideas as to why it's not selling? Ok, it's only a week but had no interest for either the Corrado or my fiancee's SLK and we need to sell both before we can go for our car together. If folk are saying I'll get around £4k tops, then so be it. I'd be happy with that, but if I advertise it at £4k then folk will haggle off that, which is why I have it over that and therefore have room to negotiate with them. I may be Aberdonian, but I ain't an ogre!! :D

put on the induction kit I got a whil back and never got round to fitting. Sounded sweet. Took it off again as the car is being sold and I was just curious as to what it would sound like :D
-
I'll try and get some new photos taken this week/weekend and take it from there - look out for this in the classifieds soon ;) ** now in the for sale section, with price based on current prices in atotrader ono ** cheers for all the advice

well, had discussions with the other half and it looks like she is changing her car also - so we need to decide whether we have 2 cars or 1 between us.... at the moment we are thinking 1 between us so may try both cars privately 1st and once one has sold we will start looking for a replacement ;)
-
I never got the orig wheels with the car when I bought it :( Cheers for all the info though, much appreciated :) Def food for thought

I take it these are me selling privately prices? I am looking for the price to trade the car in at a dealer..... Totally appreciate the fact that an auto will reflect in the price a bit, I knew that when I got it :)

I was speaking with a garage yesterday but they could not give a trade price for my car as it was not listed in Glasses guide any more... Can anyone on here give me an indication of price? I appreciate that it's not straightforward without seeing the car etc, but just looking for a kind of top/bottom guide price - I looked on autotrader and the prices there are all over the place! Details are; 1995 (M) Corrado 2.9 VR6 83k FSH Blackberry metallic Black Heated Leather Air-con ESR EM EW F/Fogs Auto Rear spoiler in working condition Standard car, with the exception of 16" alloy wheels with excellent tyres Bodywork is generally good other than a small dent on the rear wing

seen it ;)

Jetex?? £60 new...

anyone got any sound clips of VRs with induction kits? Is a K&N going to hack off an average driver with the noise? is it better looking at Ramair or Pipercross for a better noise level? Jetex seems well priced... Not in a position to stump up £160-odd for a BMC... K&N is £85 from what I can see by the time it's delivered - worth the money?? Had one on my 16v Mk3 Golf and saw a good improvement along with a Remus backbox (rr'd at 171BHP! ) Wanting to hear a VR6 with induction.... this is my 2nd and both have been standard!!
-
just been hunting for an induction kit, and if it comes down to noise only, then I don't think I'll be stumping up £85 for a new K&N! Tried to fit an old pipercross filter I had lying around, but it's neck is narrower than the VR6 intake so not putting it on. Really want to hear a VR6 with an induction kit as everyone says they are mental!! Maybe hold out for a 2nd hand Ramair Pro Ram instead....

yeah, I checked the fluid levels and they seemed to be ok. this auto to manual conversion.... I read the how to but I can't find any indication of cost associated with the job.... ideally a complete donor car would be best to start with, but how much is one likely to be, and how much labour is assocated with the full job? I'm a non-mechanic so would be putting this to a garage to to the work if I went this route...
-
cheers Solitaire let me know how you got on and I will look into this 2 year warranty..... I have the paperwork at home so can check with VW and the specialist who did the work before... Mike

ok, checked the dip stick last night (nice and easy to get to - not!) and it seems to be ok. However, and inspection of my garage floor and then the underside of the gearbox indicates a leak.... the fluid seems clean enough, both on the floor and the dip stick. Even though the oil seems to be ok (for quality and quantity), it is likely that the leak is the problem? Am I looking at a hefty bill on the horizon??
-
cheers Fla - that's the info I needed :)
-
had a look at lunch and the handbook does not give a good description of where to check the flud level - says there is a 2nd dip stick but I can't see one... where about is the fluid kept so I can check? There were 4 fluid containers in the engine bay - assumed 1 was coolant, 1 was screen wash and 1 was power steering. Is the other transmission? All seemed to have the fluid level above min and checked oil too which was perfect. Sorry, but I am an amateur and don't know where to look !! Can I just go to Halfords for fluid if I need to top up, or should I stick it to VW or a specialist (such as where did the replacement box?)
-
car is not leaking oil, although I will check the trans. fluid level. As stated, box was fitted in Dec 2003 so prob only covered by 1 year warranty. It was fitted by Bavaria Auto Werke in Aberdeen thanks for help :)

Just got back from holiday and the car has sat for 2 weeks - started 1st turn of the key 8) On the way to work this morning the car ran perfectly fine, same when I came home at lunch. On the way back to work after lunch however, I only appear to have 1st and 2nd gears  Even changing between D-3-2-1 I get no difference - just stays in 2nd, even when sitting at a steady 40mph (not accelerating) Ive maybe not given this much of a chance as it was only 4 miles back to work, but it concerned be a fair bit! The car is a 95 Corrado VR6, which received a new auto box in Dec 03 (£1900) Any idea what is causing this? Cheers
-
def needs to come down about 40mm I think! Sits way up in the air at the moment!! Not getting donw right away though - whole point of buying this was to free up some cash
-
quick pic from my brother's camera phone... better pics once my plate goes on and the car has had a polish 8)
-
nice choice Gusto - another new Rad here in Aberdeen too ;) (yours puts mine to shame though!!) Mike
-
no, thought I would drive it this weekend and will take some pics later ;)
-
sure am Roddy :afro: The car has some 16" Alesio wheels (bought in October and very blistered - will be heading to Checkpoint with the receipt I got with the car to see what they want to do about them - prob nowt!) Would love to have the car lowered on Eibachs or something, and a miltek system at some point...
