Hi All Your gonna get fed up with my constant questions (but im on a steep learning curve) When I parallel reverse park I get a noise from what I think are the brakes. I have done some googling and it seems to be a known problem on VWs of this age - but I cant seem to find the definitive answer to solve the problem. Can anyone advise on this? What's the best way to stop it and can you get rid of it permanently Thanks (again)

The cost I have had from local autoelectrician for a new alarm which would be a cobra or meta - both provided with Thatcham class 1 cert and with full closure - is £350 inc. vat and fitting - so may go down this route just to be safe and secure

Will look at the spare fob option - but may well go with a new alarm (have to wait for Januarys pay day though!) Thanks all

I believe its a scorpion - trying to avoid spending £350 (fitted) - before Christmas (otherwise girlfriend won't be seeing Santa this year!!! - on a new (Thatcham 1) alarm lol - hoping to get away with £20 or so!

Hi Well my car only came with one alarm remote fob (MPT 1340) - it looks a bit dog eared and I would like to get a couple of spares and have them re-programmed to my car - I'm thinking getting the fobs shouldn't be too hard - its the re-programming bit I'm more concerned about! - any advice out there on this? Thanks Sean to be honest that was my feelings too but just wanted to get some 2nd opinions. Next challenge - find a good (and honest) independent. That's probably unfair I know a couple.

Out of interest what the thoughts on service history going forward - should I have it serviced by VW or is a good independent "good enough"? Cheers

Although getting a low mileage one was not a priority for me its certainly a bonus especially with a fairly decent history that seems to prove the mileage - not a huge number around with this low a mileage I would have thought! Just need to do her justice now and look after her

Thanks Sean - well time will tell. They made a profit on their £4k from ebay but no where near what they would have at nearly £10K asking price. Put it this way I don't feel cheated!

Yes it was the one from dealer in Eastleigh (near Southampton) and didn't pay anywhere near the price they were asking but it wasn't cheap! Thought it worth paying what I paid though Sean dindn't go with me if that's what you mean Shame I dindn't realise I could ask people from here to accompany me as im no expert - but I certainly gave it a good going over and used the guides in terms of common faults

Plans? Keeping her as original as she is - although will probably need to get a new alarm fitted as the one on it is a bit flaky - seems to be the only problem I could find (so far) Lol. Not driven at night yet so not sure if the problem I have seen mentioned on here re lights not being bright is an issue - if it is then will look at sorting that! Give me some time I'm sure I will be picking up tips from people on here All I want to do now is go for a drive and here that V6 again - T minus 1hr 15 mins and im off for a drive!

Well, looks like I'm with you guys - I bought it! - Only 54K on the clock and extensive history folder - its not the first I have looked at but it is only the 2nd and it looks and feel and sounds like a cracker - awesome journey home - couldn't stop smiling when the spoiler went up. Hi New to the site - I'm looking at a Rado tomorrow (have loved them for years) - hope to come home with it if its as good as it sounds - just one question - Its Mulberry (Colour) - Is this the same as Blackberry - or are there two similar colours?? Thanks

Hi Sorry to jump on the bottom of this thread - but new to this forum and cant work out how to create my own. I'm going to look at a VR6 tomorrow and its described s Mulberry - can anyone tell me if Mulberry and Blackberry are the same thing / colour? Thanks and I'm sure 1.
