  1. Look in the rectifier assembly! There should six diodes In there. Sounds to me like your rectifier is not doing its job transferring a/c volts to d/c volts which is your output.

  2. Reconnect PCV! Important part! If no change after unplugging MAF or It runs better it’s the MAF. The MAF tells the ECU about your air intake, then the TPS tells the ECU what your rpms are.

  3. Had this issue for a while and thought it was something else. New MAF fixed my hesitation and erratic idle. If your idle stays low but idles good you have to adjust the idle stop on the TB. My guess is vacuum leak somewhere and or ISV. You can take the ISV off and clean it out with carb cleaner.

  4. Check your MAF first because if the 02 is sensing low oxygen which is a rich condition hence the reason you have grey ish smoke then you want to check other issues first. MAF first. Pull MAF connector and no change your MAF is on the fritz.

  5. You have to get the lock cylinders out and if you have other handles laying around you can lay out the wafer tumblers, take the them all out of existing cylinders being carful not to lose the springs in n the holes. Take all the springs out. Once there out put one spring and one wafer in and push down on it til even with cylinder starting at the head or entry way. The put the ignition key in and see if it lines up with cylinder surface. If not try another wafer. If it looks good try it in the handle to make it doesn’t bind as you turn it. Try all positions and if you don’t get all 5 to work, 3 is good enough. Don’t put any springs back in the other 2 empty slots. I’ll take pictures of the procedure later this evening. Pretty sure Mk1,2 and 3 use the same wafers but check to make sure with your existing ones because I haven’t done one these in n a while.

  6. I’ll do a search but ya I bought new ones for the wife’s VR and they do sell performance ones as well. Good quality! I carb spray/pulsed all 6 on my 180K VR and have no issues at all!

  7. I did mine using step down tubing down to carb cleaner tube and it worked great. Make sure to back flow test. And Eastwood chassis Black is an excellent choice as a painter it works great!

  8. I better check mine then. I run 10-50 on all my vw’s year round. Chains and guides done at 180k US measure I do have tap at cold start and idle until temp raises and it quest down to half. Bought it at 170k so it could use new lifters and a pump check.

  9. I know that on my b4 the handles white nylon mechanism has to be on the lock lever to work right. Mine pass side would go back up if it wasn’t aligned correctly. You can check ohms with a multimeter at the handle plug to see if you have resistance at all. I heard that the micro switches can be repaired to some degree. Search Jetta/golf forums for that.

  10. There are actuators in both doors and a pump in the rear side panel. So you’ll have to take the panels off and see what’s going on with pass side actuator. Probably a leak on that side.
