really? what kinda condition is your bottom end in? where are you from?

i have got an 1800 16v corrado (h reg) recently melted 3 pistons due to predetination... i want my car back on the road but can't afford to rebiud the engine, i have been quoted nearly 600 quid for a rebore new oversized pistons rings and shells seems very steep to me!!! there seems to be alot of 8v gti engines around an i was wondering if i could put my head and stuff onto the 8v block? any ideas chaps? whats my best option? any help would be much appreciated!!!
