Thanks for that Dox/Hasan. Forgive the ignorance but with the spare halo and immobiliser unit would the halo device replace the existing one on the ignition or would it require a new barrel aswell. Would this also require the keys to be re-programmed to the new halo if a new barrel and presumably new keys weren't required. As you can probably tell mechanics/electrics are not my strong point!!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I've had an auto electrician out and Sod's law it started first time for him. He did stop and start it several times after, during which the problem re-emerged. We tried the spare key and it started ok with that but on doing a quick diagnostic via the obd port it was showing only one fault, relating to the crank position sensor. He tried TPS re availability but it seems to be another discontinued part. Does this sound feasible as the cause of the issue or is it going to be a process of elimination job?

Hi everyone, after a bit of advice in relation to an ongoing issue I'm having with my Corrado. When I go to start the car it sometimes fires up first time but on other occasions will start and die immediately. When it does the latter it can then take any number of attempts before it eventually fires up. It will then drive normally but becomes a potential lottery if you then stop and restart. The car has been standing for a while and I've had to charge the battery on occasions. I suspect, from reading various threads on here and other sites that it might be immobiliser related. The car appears to have a Toad alarm fitted but I don't know which model as it was already on when I got it and there is no paperwork in the cars history file relating to it. If it is the immobiliser, is it a factory immobiliser or will it be an immobiliser related to the Toad system?

Can anyone advise what signs would suggest the heater matrix has gone- the reason I ask is that I have recently noticed a wet patch on the carpet in the drivers footwell and drops of water on the bonnet release handle and the pimpled bulkhead cover just below it. Are these symptoms of the matrix having gone or is it going to be a leak from somewhere else? There don't appear to be wet pitches anywhere else. The car when parked at home drops slightly to the drivers side due to the camber of the drive so wondering if it could be running from somewhere else because of this?

Thanks for that- it does seem to have a couple of thin strips of tape on but I had a re-spray at the back end of last year and didn't know whether it was something the body shop had done.
-
Can anyone oblige and advise how the black side strips running the length of the corrado were kept in place from the factory-is it tape or an adhesive? The small front section behind the wheel arch on mine has come loose and I need to fit it back.

Have had some work done on the corrado, part of which was replacing the rubber seal at the base of the aerial which I was advised meant going in via the roof lining. To cut a long story short the headlining has now started sagging and come away at the rear of the sunroof. The foam behind looks shot- is it possible to save the original material, clean it and re-use ( has anyone done it?) or is it a case of getting new and as near a match as possible as I assume the original material may no longer be available. Whichever, I can already see my wallet opening and the pennies flying away!!!

Still would love to get a Lancia Delta-always hankered after one but useless with spanners and got the impression they were quite high maintenance. Still keep an eye on the classifieds-there is a delta 16v in at Walkers in Yorkshire for £21k and I'm almost certain it was one I looked at before I plumped for the corrado a few years back. At that time they were asking £10k or thereabouts. Hope the corrado prices go the same way!

Thanks for the picture KIPVW-looks like it is still the original suspension front and rear then

Thanks for that- I know what you mean about the individual components. Spoke to a parts guy at the local vw garage who printed off diagrams including part numbers etc and mentioned things concerning chassis number breaks relating to certain part numbers etc. The shocks I have on at the moment are red (at least on the rear) and wondering if they are original or were there different colours. He suggested that some items may still be available through the likes of Vw Heritage or similar.
-
Can anyone tell me what colour the original shocks were on late vr6/Storm models (if they were the same or different) ? It looks as though I still have the original springs on with the paint dots on the springs themselves. Looking at whether it is worth/ cost effective to get the shocks rebuilt or whether a new set up of shocks/springs is going to be more practical. I would like to try and keep the car as original as possible. As you can possibly tell I' not that mechanically minded myself!

Corrado display @ 2016 VW festival
Sommevr6 replied to VAG-hag's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Just finished giving the corrado some tlc before driving over tomorrow. Sounds like traffic has been a mare. Can anyone advise whether the problems were just motorway or a roads aswell. Coming from Lancs so was gonna go through Harrogate or should that be avoided? First show and booked for the display so don't wanna get snarled and miss the lock out time!
