Very happy with the job Kwik fit did. Their first box only had one hanger, so they fitted that to get me mobile, and refitted the box with 2 hangers the next week, replaced the front box free of charge, and fitted the back box I bought from GSF. Top job :)

Anyone know if the square exhaust middle box on 1990 1.8 16v C - one back from the back box - is the same as a mk2 golf GTi. The bloke from Kwik fit reckons its the same part number and can fit it for £90, rather than order from VW at £150.

Went through 100k last weekend and watched the clock for a mile cos it looked nice.

Don't think they've been changed. It got 100k miles on clock, so I reckon they've had a good life. Is it straight forward to replace them? Anyone got a link to a procedure anywhere?

I've had imprecise handling and uneven front tyre wear for the past few months. I jacked up the front end and found that the strut top mount dropped a 1/2 inch or so and moved around, but seated back OK when the weight was on it. Is this normal? I'd have thought it should be fixed. TIA Ali.
