  1. Gloucester - 3 Corrados within 1/2 a mile - Hempstead Bypass G6 0MJ at the front (seen you a couple of times - tried to keep up, too many points on my licence!), looked like a VR6 in the middle, my old and tired 16v at the back.
  2. Hi, Not specifically a Corrado problem - but hopefully somebody can shed some light on this. Got a rough running problem on a Golf MkII GTi that we are trying in vain to sort - Its a 1990 Digifant PB 8V. First stage of the throttle, between 1800 and 3000 RPM very strange intermittent missing. It's more apparent on corners or gearchanges, and if you ease off the throttle it stops. If you open the throttle onto the second stage there are no symptoms to speak of, it pulls pretty smoothly all the way to the redline. No tickover problems, no starting problems. Sorry to ask non-corrado questions, my C' is going well at the mo' (that must be asking for trouble....!) Thanks, Walt

Not cheap....£100ish for parts, headset plus cambelt and tensioner etc (original parts used), £150 for head skim and rebuild plus 4 hours labour. My head had a small crack which needed a bit of work - possibly you won't need to have this done which will keep the cost down. So, all in about £350 plus the bit for the taxman!

I would agree about the head gasket. Mine recently went on my 16V, confused me for a while. It didn't show signs that I would normally look for - water in the oil, 'gunk' on the oil filler cap, water out of the exhaust etc. I do about a 90 mile round-trip in mine every day - I was filling it up every morning for about a week or so and looking for leaks etc before the gasket eventually let go. New head set and a head skim and its going great again.
  5. I used to use R&D Services, VW/Audi Specialist, Redland Rd, Bristol This was about 5 years ago when I lived in Bristol and drove a Scirocco. It's not the kind of place you stumble across - I would say back street, but that would give the wrong impression! They served me well. To add to the list of recommended garages: I now live in Wiltshire and use VW/Audi Cars of Bradford on Avon - 01225 867708. For general maintenance work I couldn't fault them - enthusiastic, knowledgable and reasonable prices.
