Was one a K reg red VR6 by any chance? I am aware of about 5 or 6 in the clifton area. -
In fairness the bulk of it was £500 for a whole new exhaust which I knew needed replacing when I bought it. My justification is that the C shouldn't really depreciate and therefore costly maintenence is easier to swallow. The ZR managed to lose about 3k in the first year and 2k in the second year. That is what I tell the missus anyway.

I have had my VR6 (90K miles) for nearly 6 months now and so far I have spent nearly £800 (excluding servicing) on fixing things  . What do people generally spend over the course of the year? Hopefully I have just had a bad few months! PS for the 2 years before c ownership I was wrapped in cotton wool a bit. My brand new MG ZR despite being a terrible car cost me a grand total of £350 for 2 services, oh and a bottle of anti-freeze.

There is a nice Automatic VR6 in clifton. M reg and purple. Are the automatics any good? or is it just more expensive to fix when they go wrong?
-
92,000. Not bad for a K plate.

My blowers previously only worked on level 4. fixed that by replacing the resistor pack. Now I have the option of using 1-3 I can't because of the noise coming from the fan. Can someone describe how best to remove the offending item. I haven't really investigated yet and I want to see if I can shut it up. cheers.

will do. Thanks. anyone reccomend any particular grade / brand of oil?
-
didn't think that the traction control would be either that advanced or that annoying. hmmm, oil pressure. something else to keep my eye on I suppose. Presumably reasonable driving forces shouldn't impact it that much. I will investigate. Thanks.

Morning. On a couple of occasions recently my VR6 has beeped at me when going quickly round a bend. Is that telling me that the traction control has taken action?? Ta

Is that bad? what are tappets?

Morning. I have an intermittent tapping sound coming from the engine of my '92 VR6. Seems to be coming from the front drivers side somewhere near the alternator. I replaced the worn water pump last week thinking this was the source of the noise as it was also leaking fluid. Noise continues though. However, it is not all the time. Seems to start after driving the car quite hard for a few minutes, and also goes away after a little while so not sure id it is anything to do with the temperature of the engine. On a gentle 25 minute drive to work rarely exceeding 2000 rpm it sounds fine. Sound is regular and in time with the engine. It gives the engine a mildly diesel-esque sound. Garage didn't notice anything when changing the pump, or when fitting a new exhaust and correcting a mis-fire a few weeks before. Anyone any ideas? Thanks

I have just taken my VR6 to a place called P.C. Motors in Horefield. They are a VW - Audi specialist. Hopefully they are good. Will let you know later.
