  1. Quite. And when a semi-famous Corrado like mine (ok, ok, you never heard of me. Just don't say it) went for £1600

(my Corrado is the most-viewed car profile on Pistonheads by a huge margin, not least because it is linked to by my Corrado website, which is linked to by Wikipedia)

  2. Ha, if I had seen these earlier I would have had them. Only just up the road from Yately as well!!

If the sale falls through I will let you know

Ah, right! They look nice, mate. Ebay is so hit and miss :(

They looked positively evil on track. :)

But, yes, eBay is so hit and miss. I agree. I just had some equivalent Lotus wheels go for £175.

  3. It's me who is selling these. And the auction has now ended.

The winning bidder is on a ship and unable to pay until the end of next week, so fingers crossed the sale goes through.

I'm a little disappointed that they went for only £112, tbh, as I bought them for £60, the refurb cost over £100, and they're mint. Ah well.

  4. If you're still looking, I have a set of mint Speedlines professionally refurbished in matte black with Toyo R888 tyres on them. Plus I work in Burridge which is just round the corner from you if you can pop over in working hours.

Currently for sale on eBay with a starting bid of £99.99 but considering that the refurbishment alone cost £120 I think that's a bit of a steal.

  5. I have a standard flywheel for sale if you want it. It came off my VR6 when I had a Fidanza flywheel fitted and I sold the car with the Fidanza on.

Not sure if the sums will add up as I'm down near Fleet & Camberley in Hampshire and it's a heavy bugger to post, but PM me if you're interested.

(Probably doing myself out of a sale here, but why on earth are you taking the risk of lightening a stock part when you could buy a Fidanza from the states?)

  6. I have a mint set of standard VR6 15" Speedlines only they are professionally refurbished in matte black. So they may not be suitable.

Currently shod in Toyo R888 track day tyres

They're up for sale on eBay with a starting bid of £99.99 but I would be expecting to get more than that as the refurbishment alone cost me £120

  7. Holy thread resurrection!

I'm planning on selling my roof bars now that my Corrado is gone. I'll try and get them photographed and into the classifieds shortly.

As mentioned earlier in the thread it'll be

    1. Bars (761)

    2. Foot pack (950)

    3. Fitting kit (094)

You do not need "Short roof adaptor (477)", but Yalan's post of 13th April 2008 02:55 PM is quite interesting, so maybe I'll chuck that in too.

  8. I have the genuine original equipment kit distributed by Votex GmbH with electrics, removable hitch, and everything.

The guy I bought it off says it had never been fitted (and its condition supports that) and I've never fitted it either.

It's for sale if you want to make me an offer?

  9. Hi Anton. Funnily enough, I do. Genuine original equipment kit distributed by Votex GmbH with electrics, removable hitch, and everything.

The guy I bought it off says it had never been fitted (and its condition supports that) and I've never fitted it either.

  10. Brand new ones from VAG are ridiculiously expensive. GSF matrix is a much better option and they are pretty good as well. Not a job i want to do more than once.

It's cost vs benefit though, isn't it? Let's face it, these are old cars now and at the age where you begin to wonder if replacement parts will outlast the car (or at least your ownership of it).

However, I agree - the GSF one is the way forward. The second-hand Mk2 item will be a false economy and the VAG one an unjustifiable extravagance.

  11. Seems it's used (it's come out of a Mk2 Golf that was broken for spares) and it's still in its housing. So it's a toss-up whether to use it or the pattern part. I could spend as much labour on getting it out of its housing as the price difference between it and the new part.

Edit: And as Portent says, the majority of the cost is going to be labour so I should probably get the new part.

  12. it will fit, but don't use a mk2 part, you want a mk3 matrix which is stronger, it's the mk2 ones that VW fitted by-pass valves to the feed and return hose, to prevent them exploding if the system became blocked or over-pressurised.

Hmmm. Dilemma as my colleague only wants beer money for the mk2 part.

    Thanks for the info though!
