Well after having the corrado for a few weeks then blowing up my clutch release bearing, I have been driving the 1.9 TD Mk3 for a week then the 1.6 Driver I can now say. whoever said drive the corrado for a while then back to the golf was right. I Miss the Rad, I just cant wait till i get it back, the Mk3 just felt like I was driving a 4x4, and the driver well it's just a bit tempremental. So i am really wanting the corrado back and am going to sort all the little things over time. been looking for a set of wheels to treat it since i was a bit bad with it when i first got it.well not bad but had some fun in it. Only problem being, the performance was crap enough as it is so I dont want to compramise the performance or handiling much with my wheel choice. and the car is already lowered so I dont want arch problems. love deep dish rims, been looking at a set of borbet T's but not sure if 17"'s are too big and I am thinking about 8" wide but I dont know if they will cause problems. Should i compramise and choose style over performance ? it will look great but i dont know if it will matter when I get overtaken by 1.1 Corsa ! because ive lost power and if i go quick round a corner my arches scrape. Someone give me some advice.

Well after the zorst falling off on friday night spent half of saturday welding it up and i found out my front 2 tires were worn down to the canvas. managed to get the exauhst back on with some more mounts this time and put on wheels from my mom's Golf. Went to knockhill with it toaday. Had a lot of fun. although prettymuch everything on the track was quicker than the corrado. and had been setup for a track day rally cars. running on slicks etc... I thought the corrado was doing not that badly. but it isnt alll good I Had a few trips on the grass and i broke the exauhst in another place up near manifold, my clutch has also packed up and is making a awful noise when you push the pedal so i reckon i will have to take the box out now. it dosent look like the car wants to be sold. looks like it's back to the old golf untill I can get the clutch fixed and the zorst.

So i had it in the paper on wednesday and noone has phoned about it, was going to put it back in next week but it decided it dosent want to go in the paper. So was driving along riverside drive last night and then hit a small bump and Bang, I hear heaps of rattiling. stop to see whats wrong with it and i get out to find my backbox hangining on by a thread so got it in my boot now. last time i looked underneath i decided the system had to go anyway it had more than 3 obvious leaks half the monunts didnt line up right. some were stretched like you dont know what. to be honest i dont think the exauhst if for the corrado it fits so badly. Some of my heat sheilds because of the crap fitting exauhst decided to start to fall off as well one was hanging off but we couldnt pull it off so just jammed it up somewhere but we lost it on the way home. I Could just put on another backbox or weld the olld one up like crazy but I dont see the point the whole system is in need of attention. So I want a Good System That Isnt Loud and fits perfectly I dont want stretched mounts or anything. I took a long time reading the Miltec/Magnex Debate but didnt actually decided on what one would be of a better fitment and quality thing is I am north of aberdeen and want one next week ordering it on monday. can anyone help ? im only a 1st year apprentice plant mechanich and dont have oodles of money, but i see already im just going to loose money if i sell the car. so maby fixing the problems and making it look nice is a plan untill i save the pennies and get a VR6 in a year or two. My wheels, I do like my wheels but they just take too long to clean so I want another set of wheels but am not sure of the size to get i have tried a search but cant find anything on the best wheel size. i want the wheels to look nice and fill the arches, but i dont want to compramise too much handiling/speed for them. was thinking something around the region of a 16" but i dont know how much thats going to affect my handiling.

Well Since Passing my Test. 17, MK2 Golf 1.6 TD MK2 Golf 1.3 MK2 Golf Driver 1.6 D (Conversion) Mk1 Golf (1.3) 18, Golf Driver 1.6 Corrado 1.8 16v 19, Just turned 19, and still got the Rad. And Yes, i do pay insane amounts of money to the insurance company for the privaladge. Want something with a bit more go now. and cant seem to get insurance on a Corrado VR6, but i can get on a Golf VR6 ? -
I should give it a bit more of a chance maby, get it serviced and tuned t. sort some of the little things with it it needs a new exauhst it's blown in 3 places, is like a monkey fitted it or something. also a new Clutch Master Cylnder and try and figure out why my dip beam keeps blowing the relay fuse. it is a lovely car to drive.

Was Hoping to speak to some owners of 16vt Corrados just to see some pictures of the engine bay's and get some specs on the engines. If thats possible at all ?
-
you'll have to bear in mind if you tune the G60 up to 200+bhp then the insurance might not be too happy with that given your relatively young years  This is true. but what am i going to do!
-
Well how easy is it to get 200bhp out of a G60 ? I Could go for another option but Ii dont know if I could get insurance on it. I am building a 16vt Engine for my mk1 golf I have some parts sorted out, but still need a lot of work to complete. could maby put it in the Rad.

Well, i have been messing around with my insurance again, and a Corrado VR6 Just isnt going to happen yet. I treid, (more than once) But just out of curiosity I did get some quotes for some make cars and im going to be refunded £660 for a Saxo VTS, which i couldnt keep up with in the rad, reckon I was pulling on it after 100 but didnt have enough road to find out for sure. refunded £224 for a Rover 220 Coupe Turbo. i know these are pretty quick Refunded £350 For a MK3 Golf VR6. and charged an extra £24 Quid for a Corrado G60. I Took the golf out for a drive the other day, and i dont know if i want to go back down that route now. i am loving the corrado, but im finding it hard to justify spending that amount on insurance to be overtaken by 1.4 Corsa Sports. Dont worry though, im not about to buy a saxo but someone is going to say that a corrado G60 is a Magical car and it's going to do marvelous things for me with my extra £24 quid.
-
Well would you rather pay 2k to Tesco for a Golf Driver or 2k to elephant for a Corrado ? Im thinking a G60 is maby my next route just to see what it's like
-
Well i have been thrashing the crap out of the car lately i can get 110 out of it up a hill and havent really tried to get it flat out. This is my situation, i am 19, 1st Year Apprentice Plant Mechanich. i have had 2 claims. One of which was my fault the other wasnt, but insurance point of veiw i hut him. so i pay. Own a Golf Driver 1600cc and am Paying £2000 to Tesco to insure it. So i decided i wanted a quicker car. got some insurance quotes from elephant.co.uk and they would insure me for £2000 for a Corrado 16v,G60 So i was figuring, why the hell should i pay that kind of money for my golf when I could be driving a Corrado. Just thinking a Corrado G60 would be easier to get some more power out of than a 16v
-
I Cant get insurance on one of them, and evan if i did i doubt i could buy one in the first place! So it's going to have to be a G60 now. and if im not happy with that i just dont know what to do .
-
Have only owned the corrado for 2 weeks now and im going to sell it already. already hoping to get my money back for it. To be quite honest i just wasnt impressed wiith the performance of it. i dont know if i got a duff one or something but the 1.8 16v was pretty poor. the handiling and ride quality was great and a really nice car but just too slow. So what are the oppinions on a G60 ? will the performance of that impress me more than my 16v ?
-
Hmm i have noticed sometimes it has issues starting. but closest shell is in town, and thats a long drive for some optimax. Esso 97 RON is the closest.
-
im Loving the Corrado More and More everytime I drive it, just the feel of it it's verry nice. I Will Give it a service and try get it to somewhere to see what it's doing. I Looked up some specs on a corsa, seems if it was a SRI it could of been a 1.8 16v with 128bhp. So i guess that would be pretty close to my bumper or past me. giving they probably weigh nothing
-
Well Definately the Driver sticks with the corrado till around 90. But i know the exauhst on the rad is blowing pretty badly. will sort that see if it helps because i had same problem with the driver and it was pathetic with a blown exauhst but that was right at the manifold to downpipe join. i think the leaks are near the rear boxes. I Bough the corrado to be quicker than the golf so im a bit dissapointed. because it's not often im going to be driving over 90 mph anyway.
-
I will wait till i get used to the car before it push it in some corners ;c) but i reckon the engine wont last much longer but i might be suprised i just want to have a replacement sitting by ready ;c) and this sebring exauhst is just horrible it just dosentfit the car there are mounts underneath that arent being used the ones that are the mounts are stretched like anything. i reckoin it has caused some of my heat sheilding to fall off and sit on top of the exauhst it just has to go, it's the first thing im going to fix. but what is the best fitting system in your oppinion ? from my golf it has to be a Jettex and thats what im hoping for on the corrado.
-
Well after having my corrado on the road for a few days. now i think it is a lovely car but im not quite sure about it's performance. My Other Car a Golf Driver 1600cc all i have done to it is a Webber Carb, GTI Cam, and a GTI Downpipe+ Manifold. But Im Reckoning up to say 80 - 90 My Driver would out accelerate The Corrado. and the other day i had a Corsa tailgate me in a 30mph limit so when we got out on to open road i thought i would increase the gap between us but everytime i looked in my mirror he was still there up untill like 100 it seemed i creeped away from him, but because new car and it's so dammned lovely I dont want to risk it in the twistys (it looks great and i want to keep it that way)so he was right there again then im not sure if he could of passed me or not it he was either lacking power or bottle but there was plenty straight bits of road after some lower gear corners and could see far enough in front so i think if he could of he would but he was just too close for comfort The Corrado Does have a pretty badly leaking exauhst but i think it's quite far back the system. Which is leading me to is something maby wrong with my car or is that kindof the performance i should be getting? Car is 160k with a FSH i know the engine is about done and am thinking about a replacement ? is a 2.0 16v easy enough swap and a decent hike in performance ?
-
Well i just got a Corrado 1.8 16v a few days ago upgrading from my Golf Driver, Still getting used to the hydro clutch and cable change but the car is just a lovely to drive. Bodywork is good condition. engine is High Milage but with a Full Service History. but im not holding up on it for much longer. Just a few little niggles i want to try and get sorted out. The Rear Boot lock you still need the key to open it. the vacume motor dosent seem to move. tried a scredriver to move mechanisum and some WD but nothings moving. My Clutch Pedal sometimes hits the deck and gets stuck there have to pull it back out. and it crunches when going in reverse sometimes there is a squeak from the pedal so it might be that ? On the engine side it sometimes dosent like to start you need to give a slight little bit of throttle...sometimes it starts fine but the next it just winds and winds. And the Exauhst. It's a Sebring Backbox and i dont know about the rest but it leaks and generally just dosent look like it fits properly. Whats the best system i should be fitting to it ? im going towards a Jettex any ideas how much thats going to cost me ? Ayone got some advice on these little things to fix ?
