Holy S!!t A Fiat punto just reversed into me
headmonkey replied to headmonkey's topic in General Car Chat
I'm just glad that it was a Fiat. Here in Bath we find bits of them all over the roads due to their plasticy nature and our pothole problem. :) -
Yep A bloody Punto just ramed its fat plastic arse into the front of my C 10 minutes after I sorted the tracking out. Anyway the damage to me was two tiny gouges above my indicator lense. The damage to the Punto was to it's entire rear bumper, which split and fell of the car completely :D And it was a hire car  1 nil to the Corrado me thinks :) I don't mean to be malicious but I wish people would just use their mirrors from time to time.

Well I asked for opinions and thats what I got. :) I'll be staying well away from from any of the miriad of potions that line the shelves of stores like Halfords etc then. Cheers for the advice guys. :)

Hello I was just wondering what people think of Oil Additives such as slick 50 and the like. And gearbox oil additives such as Molyslip. I'm about to service my 2.0 16v C and I'm wondering wheather or not such products will make a difference. Cheers Rick

Thought so. Cheers. I guess I'll be saving for the VR6 then.

Hello I was just wondering how much of an increase in power you would get from de-catting a 92 2.0 litre 16v Raddo with a completely standard engine. Just wondering wheather it's worth doing or I'll simply be better off saving my pennies for a VR6 (though that would mean saving for a reeeeeaaaallly long time). Any thoughts?

Well I've looked under the centre tunnel trim and there is definately no mount points. But it does seem an easy job to fabricate and weld in a mounting plate. Has anyone got any pics of a centre tunnel and back seat bench with the trim and the rear seats and centre arm rest removed for an idea of how to go about it. I would also need to find a tunnel trim off of a Rado that will fit over any mount points that I end up making.

Yes It's a 2.0L. Is there any real difference to the car beneath the handbrake console? If not then is just a case of drilling 4 screw holes? Or will I need to fabricate a mounting plate of some discription?
-
Then I assume that an earlier handbrake console thingy will have the correct mount points for armrest.

Hello. This probably sounds like another daft newbie question but does anyone have any pics of how the rear seat centre bolster fitts in. The bolster has a hinge bracket at the front with 4 holes in it but there dosen't seem to be a matching set of holes anywhere in the rear of my C. Was there ever an interior that did not have a hinged bolster? I ask this because the correct place for the hinge seems to be behind the rear ashtray but in my C this will mean that the bolster will sit over what looks like a little bits and pieces tray. Cheers Rick

OOOps  I've just realised what you were saying H100VW. Now I really do feel a tad on the dumb side  But still, surely the dash lights shouldn't dim so much with each succesive click?
-
Sorry, my question really only concerns the 4 foglights in the front bumper. Basically with the first click of the foglight switch the front fog lights turn on, but this is only the smaller inner lights and not the main larger spots. With the second click the rear fogs turn on and the switch warning light also comes on. Wheather or not the car is running each click will always dim the dash lights. Also, when are the larger outer spots supposed to come on?

Hello, I've bought the car on friday (white 2.0 16v). Drove it to Bath from London (sweet drive on motorway, great drive on A Roads, big grin on face). And now the first problem: When the front spots are switched on, the dash lights fade on the first click and the smaller inner spots turn on. On the second click the dash lights fade even more and the main spots don't come on at all. The headlights main and dip work fine but make no difference to the spots. Is this a common prob with Vdub electrics? and if so is there a common procedure to work out the fault? Any help would be great. Cheers

Thanks guys. Vwdubs: if I ever get tired of sliding into hide I'll let you know.
