Thanks for response, can you point me in the right direction as to where this screw is located on throttle body? Cheers

How is the idle in a 2.0l set after installing a New Air Flow Meter?, I've read several threads on the forum which point out that the idle in a 2.0l 16v is factory set and cant be adjusted via any idle screws, is this correct? I fitted a New Air Flow Meter some weeks ago and the car keeps cutting out in Traffic. If the idle has to be set by someone with specialist equipment, what do they adjust and where? Thanks Guys

Latest update is that after another few frustrating hours it still wont start.......I removed the metering distributor again, checked the Plunger also checked the depth from the roller bearing in the air flow meter to the mating face of the fuel distributor but couldn't really check this accurately, it's suppossed to be 19mm approx, someone else suggested 21mm, tried turning the CO adjustment screw anti clockwise and clockwise but it didn't make any difference, tried very small adjustments first but made no difference. I'm wondering has it something to do with the ECU? Haven't disconnected/reconnected it since I removed the Metering Distributor last week, maybe I should try again. I suspect there is not fuel going to the injectors because I removed a Plug and it wasn't wet with Petrol which I thought it might be with all the turining of the Adjustment screw. All connections are in order, vacum tubes ok etc. Starts for a split 1/2 sec. or so then cuts out. Any ideas? Getting P'd off now as I had to hire a car for the week to get to work and dont want to be without it another week... Cheers

Thanks very much John for all that information, very kind of you to offer your assistance, unfortunately I live in Ireland but yes if I get her started I will bring her to a garage to be set up correctly. A couple of things, I used a draughtmans Ruler to check the old one last night, it's made of steel is 6 inches long and a 1/2 inch wide and is finely calibrated so I would guess it is fairly accurate, however I do have a Calipers as well. Interestingly the measurement I got was 21mm.......from the Roller bearing surface to the top of the Hole, it would be 22 or 23 mm to the point where the metering head meets the Plate and yes I understand that is where the measurment is taken from, however I notice the Haynes Passat Manual chapter on Fuel inj. for K Jet indicates the distance should be between 18.7 and 18.9mm.....so which is correct I wonder? The timing was set last when the Head Gasket was replaced which is approx. a month ago so would it need to me done again? Many Thanks

Thanks very much John for responding, yes it is a new Air Flow Meter, I understand it has to be recalibrated, they dont tell you this in the shop though when you are buying the part, do they........I found some information like what you described in the Passat Haynes Manual, someone sent me a picture, so I think I know what to do now, it says to use a Depth Guage (Yeah, like I'd have one in my press!!) but I am just going to use a ruler to measure to the face of the metering body. Assuming I do get it started it was suggested to me I would need to adjust the idle (presumably up near the throttle somewhere) and the timing. Will these not self adjust themselves?. Also do you know if the 16V 2.0l Corrado has K-Jet, or KE Motronic or a mutation of the two?? Looks like KE Motronic on mine cause it's got Knock Sensors and the like.. Thanks for the advice

The Ignition Switch I replaced a couple of weeks ago, haven't checked the fuses, is there a fuse for the Fuel system? Have checked all connections again but everything appears in order Cheers

No Immobiliser fitted, it's a 92 with K-Jet.

Cant get her to start after installing a new Air Flow Meter, checked all connections and vacum hoses and lifted the flap of the meter a few times to prime it, only got a drop of fuel out after a got few pushes. Had the Fuel Metering head off to install new Air Flow Meter but didn't do anything with that, just gave the Plunger a gentle clean. Car fires for a second and then cuts out. Disconnected the fuel lines at the Metering head to check for fuel and there seems to be fuel at all the connections. Disconnected and reconnected the ECU but that didn't make any difference either. Haven't got VAGcom I'm afraid so cant make any checks there. Any ideas? Thanks Guys

My 16valver has started to idle High, particularly noticeable in Traffic, feels like the choke is on constantly even when warmed up, idling at approx 1100RPM, also when starting in the morning the Cold Start Valve would appear not to be kicking in and the car cuts out a bit initially as the idle is jumping up and down from 1000 R.PM. to approx. 0 RPM, then once warmed up it's ok for a while, then it starts idling high, even on a drive of a couple of miles out of traffic, the choke is definitely on. Faulty Cold Start Valve? or some sort of Engine Temp. Sensor? ISV was replaced a year ago with a new one so I know it's unlikely to be this, it's been runnign fine up to now. Cheers

Deffo interested in a set, any idea of pricing yet?

Over the last few months I'm finding it increasingly difficult to move off in first gear or stay at a seady slow speed in first or second gear without the car shunting like mad, I cannot keep the car going at a slow steady pace in traffic, it jumps like mad and I'm wondering if this is a fuel related issue. Clutch seem fine, had a new one fitted 6 months ago. After hearing a buzzing noise from the fuel pump I replaced both the main fuel pump and the in tank pump a couple of weeks ago. I'm planning to replace the ISV next as it's never been replaced, I've cleaned it a couple of times but never thought it did much good. Car starts perfectly and idles fine once it has warmed up, cold sart valve seems to work fine too. Fuel economy is very poor despite a recent service. Acceleration is poor until your foot is down a 1/2 inch or so on the accelerator, there seems to be a dead spot when you first press the accelerator. Thought it might be engine or gearbox mountings but if it was either one of those it would be jumpy in all gears, right? which it's not, it's getting very difficult to drive in traffic. Any ideas? Cheers

Thanks Guys, got frustrated dealing with the parts guy who wanted me to bring in the pump, ordered one instead from GSF, £31 and I'll have it Tuesday so happy days hopefully! Cheers

Anyone know the VW part number for the lift pump for a 9A 16V? Mine is knackered and I need one fast, Part number on the pump is 191 906 092A, dealer tells me it is obsolete, is this correct? Is there another VW pump that will fit and and what's the number or can it only be sourced from GSF as a non oem part? 1992 2.0l 16V 9A Cheers Tedb

I have a dodgy pump, making a loud buzzing noise in traffic.... it's the Pump under the Floor on the Driver's side not the Lift Pump, I take it I can just replace the Pump unit itself? Is the part same as Passat or Golf and is it a Bosch Unit does anyone know? Thinking of getting one from the Breakers, any idea of how much one is new? Mines a 9A 2.0l 1992 model. Cheers
