  1. Hi, Its a 1995 VR6, I've had to take it to the garage as I couldn't find any loose pipes and it still had the problem after I cleaned the sensor I'd removed to do the gearbox oil......I hope its not expensive. On the plus side the gear change is alot better!!
  2. Hi, I hope someone’s out there as I have to get to work!! I changed the gearbox oil at the weekend and the car ran fine on the journey home from my parents place. I got up this morning late for work and the car has got a problem. The idle won't stabilize at the bottom end!!!! the rev counter just bounces up and down by about 250rpm between 1250 and 1500rpm. I drove the car round the block and it goes but as soon as you slow down too much it wants to stall. I was wondering if the speed sensor I removed to change the oil has anything to do with it? The coil pack was only changed recently so I don’t think it’s that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim
  3. Thanks for the fast response. I'll need it for a VR6, its the first time I've had the car serviced since I got it in March so I'll go a bit further if people recommend somewhere really good. I dont think my skills are up to doing it myself :)
  4. Hi Guys, Im trying to find a good garage in the SW London/Guildford area for a service and clutch change, does anyone have one to recommend? I've had a look on the good garage/bad garage section and the nearest I can find is Wembley. Is is right that the clutch will cost around £650 parts and fitting and the service around £200? I was also hoping to lighten the flywheel would it be best to get that done at the same time? Thanks Tim
  5. Cheers for your help guys. I'll have a look in the tank this weekend and see whats going on. Tim
  6. I keep reading that the fuel tank is 77ltrs or 15 gallons. I have run mine to the top of the red area and then filled the tank until the petrol station pump clicks. The maximum I have put in has been 35ltrs and the fuel gauge in the car shows the tank is full. I can only seem to get approx. 220 miles out of the tank which is about 30mpg which is good, but the tank seems to be only 7ltrs!!!! so......I presume the 15 on the fuel gauge is talking about 15 gallons, but I can only fit in 7???? am I going wrong or is something not right. Any help would really be appreciated as Im seriously confused. Thanks Tim
  7. Job done! thanks for all the info. I put the car in the garage in the end to do the fronts. After fitting the rears there was a loud banging sound coming from the back left shock. I thought the top mount had gone so I ordered new ones, they arrived and didnt fit (I think they must be for the front as they were too big?) took the shock of anyway to see if I could find out the problem as it was close to putting a hole in the rear speaker. It turns out that I hadnt set the bolt above the spacer low enough!! sorted that out and its all fine now. The car rides loads better not suprisingly the old shocks really were in a sorry state and I thought the handeling was pretty good with them!. Got quite a shock (scuse the pun) with the VW prices, got door seals from a dealer and it cost £130! Still have a couple of other problems but I think they're for another post. Thanks again for all the advice. Tim
  8. Hi Dennis, thats great, thanks for the info. I think I'll leave the fronts to the garage to do as the car has to go in to have the steering checked anyway + I think that would be the safer option. Cheers for you help. Tim
  9. Hi, Im new to this site having just bought a VR6 and I’m very very happy with it. This may be a stupid question but........I need to replace the shocks on the front and rear and I cant find the torque settings, I've searched on this site and on the net, but can't find 'em can anyone help please? I got the Corrado on Saturday having found it on the cars for sale section here. Its green with beige leather and 68K, I paid £6000. Was a bargain compared to what I found on auto trader. There are a couple of problems; I've got to replace the sump gasket along with the shocks this weekend as I’m losing oil fast! and there is the problem with stalling occasionally that a lot of people seem to have, I’m guessing the ISV needs cleaning. Also a knocking on the steering before the car warms up, I’m hoping it’s not going to be too big a problem. What a car though, amazing drive!!!!!! I've had a 205 XS since I started driving nearly 6yrs ago so it’s a bit of a change!! Can you get Haynes manuals for the corrado? Can’t seem to find that either. Anyway sorry for all the writing, this site has been a great reasourse when I was looking at buying the car so thanks. Tim
