Thanks for your info however what ever the buyer chooses to do with the crank is up to them. I also know about engine balancing. I am simply stating the details of the item for sale. I am not selling a balanced engine nor offering any service just a balanced reground crankshaft from my own highly tuned engine. The more balanced the individual components are in an engine the better in my book. If someone's big ends have gone then this is a great way cheap way to fix the problem without involving engineers etc. Like I said, thanks for your input.

I use back to black spray and warm soapy water as oil can be harmful to any silicon hoses and tyre dressing is meant for rubber and can go a bit funny looking on plastic and on doubt harsh on silicone. I think there is some special silicon hose cleaner / dressing stuff I read about just can't remember what its call! Best thing to clean the silicone with is warm soapy water.

I was in a hurry and thought it would be ok so as a result it jumped several teeth on both cams, all the valves got bent and it cracked the cylinder head!! I did not pre oil or allow the tension to build up just on the starter (which runs at about 50rpm). I foolishly put a new dry tensioner in and started the engine (that runs at 1200rpm on start up) and within a couple of seconds the cams had jumped the noise was awful and then stopped. It was an ABT big valve head that was destroyed so a BIG loss! If you follow the instructions you should be fine!

Hi, best thing to do on old style tensioner is bleed the tensioner by sticking a long straight hard piece of wire down the hole in the end and push down on the release valve. Have the bolt head end in a spray can cap filled with oil. Remove the wire and pull the end of the tensioner up around 5mm so it sucks up a little oil from the oil hole near the bolt thread. I have destroyed a cylinder head not doing the next bit! Unplug the fuel pump relay or ecu and turn the engine over just on the starter motor. You will hear the chains sounding very loose and clattery. As the oil presure increases the sound changes and the noise goes away. You now have tensioned chains! Plug everything back in and start you engine. Cheers!

263's or 264's are great for forced induction vr's both supercharged or turbo. They are also a nice improvement on a normaly aspirated engine. Not much in it between manufacturers to be honest. For normaly aspirated 268's are good but not great on forced induction as you can loose boost and are quite harsh. Like many on the forum I have tried lots of different set ups and run both types of cam with much success. Always a good idea to plan ahead and match the cam to your planed engine set up. ---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:45 PM ---------- Also the forced induction thread could help. It shows all the positive and also annoying bits that are involved. 165 pages however worth the read very useful resource thanks to everyone's efforts.

You have picked a great supercharger with the Rotrex. One that I should have gone for in retrospect! I have recently finished a Vortech supercharger project on my car. Sadly I had to get rid of my beloved polished Schreck as the intake temperatures were just way too high particular in the summer. The design of the Schreck is just not meant for forced induction. The flap inside the Schreck also has a tendency not function properly over anything more than 6ish psi of boost as the little vacuum valve cant fight against the airflow. Instead I have a short runner and a charge cooler like the Stealth setup you may have seen pictures of. I also have water injection however found that once the engine was mapped, large green injectors fitted and cooler working properly it is not needed. I keep the water injection fitted as I have been running direct port nitrous for the last decade and like the safety margin! If the kit you are looking at is comprehensive you should be up and running in no time. Just keep an eye on the intake temps as if they get high - which they will - the ecu will retard the timing dramatically due to knock. Good luck with the project I am sure once you finish you will have a beast of a machine!

I have run the 2.9 manifold a schreck! and the 2.8 I am selling on the forum that is being referred to in this post. The manifold is for OBD1 as I was running with my Corrado throttle body with no issue. I have already told Maff there is no problem with the fitment. I found the torque to be a bit better than the 2.9 manifold lower down. Reminded me of the Schreck with the flap closed. Snappier throttle response compared to the 2.8 manifold due to the smaller plenham. Up the top end I did not notice any restriction. For sale on the forum if any one is interested! :-)

Hi it's the smaller plenham version from an AAA Thanks

Hi, the crank was balanced a few years ago so is smoother at higher revs. The crank has had the big end journals re-ground and main journals polished to create a fresh as new bearing surface. There are no power gains and this is not a stroked crank. Thanks

VR6 Polished OBD1 Intake Manifold. I have re-enamelled, buffed and fitted a nearly new plastic spark plug lead holder strip. Looks very smart under the bonnet! I now have a short runner so no longer needed. Easy to bling back up if the allu gets dull over time with brasso. The enamel should now last for ages. Wanting £75 delivered or £65 if collected in person from Bath, Somerset. Thanks, Will [email protected] 07747862800

VR6 12v Reground and hot tanked crankshaft. All journals are in excellent condition. The big ends are now .25 undersize so need .25 oversize bearing shells to accommodate. The main bearings have been micro polished and did not need grinding. The crank was professionally balanced along with the rest of the engine by Bassett Down nr Swindon a couple of years back. The crank has only covered around 200 miles or so since its regrind. My piston rings let go so I am stripping the good bits off the engine to pay for the new! Heavy crankshaft so collection from Bath, Somerset much prefered or £20 for delivery. I can also weigh it wrap it and help with your own courier if needed. Wanting £60(reduced) for the crank which is a bargin price. Thanks, Will [email protected] 07747862800
