  1. I have a company car and pay £47 a month on a 1.6 Focus. Its in a low emissions bracket. Nice to leave the Rado tucked up away in the garage until the weekend.
  2. I know running a car of this age will be costly, I have had the car for over a year now and this is the first major repairs i have needed, so I don't think i've done too bad. People think I am mad keeping it but there is no way I am driving a boring focus about at weekends. They just don't understand. MOT states its the the sub frame rubber bush that has gone, but are not resulting in excessive movement. And everything is more expensive in the south east. :x :x
  3. Right, after spending £800 on my new alternator, starter motor, abs sensor, MOT, service and tax, I finally got to drive my Rado again after 2 months. So I warmed the car up to a resonable temp and give it some down the back roads for about 10mins, and I get home to smoke pouring out of my bonnet. The radiator had blown and was pi55ing out water. :( :( And another thing it took me ages to get the bonnet open as I think one of the catches has seazed. Back to driving the boring rep car then. Also I got 2 advisorys on my MOT for my rear bushes, what would you reccomend?
  4. As above, not sure if mine is faulty and didn't show any faults in VAG-COM. Cheers
  5. I was getting quoted over £200 for the alternator and 6 hours labour for the alternator, starter motor and an hour for the sensor (£210). Surely it would'nt take them that long. Are they having me on... Would it be better buying the parts myself and getting them to fit it. I suppose the service wont be too bad, but I would need the book stamped. All I don't need is for the MOT to show anything else up.
  6. Hi all After owning my rado for nearly a year I have replaced quite a few things, shocks, springs, fuel pump, MAF, ISV, water pump, thermostat housing, fan relay, pads, plus a few more things I can't think of. At the weekend my VR6 decided to cut out on me (dead battery). So i put a multimeter on the battery and it is only showing between 11-12v when the engine is running, which i assume means the alternator has gone. Also the starter motor wont engage till the 3rd or 4th time (new one needed), the ABS light has just appeared (think its a sensor), my tax runs out at the end of the month along with the MOT and it needs a service. :( :( :( Just thought I would like to share my problems with you lot. Also whats a ballpark figure on how much this will cost. If its gonna cost over a grand I am thinking of cutting my losses and selling up. Rant over.
  7. All sorted now. They have changed the design of the fuel pumps for the VR6. My original one had a bracket to attach the fuel sender but the new one didnt. So now I have to shell out another £90 for it. But as a temporary measure I have cable tied the old unit to the new pump and it all works fine. Surprised no one else had come across this problem.
  8. I have just bought a new fuel pump for my VR6 and it looks different to my original one. There is nowhere to attach the sender unit. Anyone had this problem before.
  9. Ok i'll give that a try, anyone on here want them before they go on ebay.
  10. How can you tell if they are real or not and whats the best way to remove the without scratching the paintwork.
  11. I am wondering weather to sell my Storm badges (inside and out) as my rado is a standard VR6 and were on there when I bought the car. I quite like the fact that it fools quite a few people even with the wrong wheels and wrong shade of blue. But it does have the colour coded grill and leather. But I also know there quite rare and could be worth a bit. Do I keep them on there or make a few quid, and if anyone is intrested let me know.
  12. But is there an easy way to test it. The bloke said I can test the voltage changes as i blip the throttle but where do you test it. There are 5 pins on the MAF. Want to get this sorted soon as i'm probably damaging my engine.
  13. Hi all, I have just had my VR on the dyno and it produced only 181bhp. The bloke said the problem is probably with the air flow meter as the air flow didn't change as he reved it. Has anyone else had this problem and is there an easy way to check that my air flow meter is ok as I don't really want to spend £350 on a new one. Also would anything else cause this to happen. Cheers Russell
  14. All sorted now, wrong top mounts and getting sorted today, thanks for the help. :)
  15. Just after the springs mate. Anywhere else I can try so I can compare prices, but I need to order them ASAP as my car will be off the road.
  16. Right started a new thread because I don't know how to edit my old one. These ventura springs are c**p the spring has completely removed itself from the top mount after driving if for less than 5 miles and my mechanic has advised me to go with a different make. I have decided on H&R and need to know the best place to get them from ASAP.
  17. *UPDATE* Got my car back last night, looks nice and low now (couldn't stand the 4x4 ride height), and imo handles very nice. The ride is very firm compared to before, but a lot of the understeer has dissappeared. What i'm thinking is using these for a while and when my funds improve changing them for H&R. At least the important bit is done with the shocks.
  18. Anyone??? Also would the ventura's be any worse than the red springs you get with the Koni package.
  19. Just took my VR into a garaged to be lowered on the koni sport kit and the mechanic tells me they have sent me 4 rear springs. So my car is now jacked up ready to be lowered and i am in need of some springs. He is able to get some ventura springs with my koni shocks, but is this a good idea, has anyone got any feedback with this set up?? I was thinking of getting some H&R springs but are too expensive and will take too long for delivery. What do I do.
  20. Forgot to mention my springs are Red, does this mean I've got the cr@ppy ones???
  21. Thats good to know, just can't wait to get them on now, its like driving a boat.
  22. I am for now. I have heard that they are not that good and H&R make much better ones, but they cost another £130 and I cannot afford anymore than what I have paid already. But at least I will have a decent set of shocks and I can upgrade the springs at a later date when I get some more cash. What is the problem with the Koni springs??? They must be an upgrade from the originals arn't they??
  23. Found a bloke who knows every nut and bolt on a Corrado to fit my Koni's for £180 and suppily the top mounts and bump stops. Stealth were quoting £200 and its a bit of a trek to get up there. Seems funny that I pay £380 for a kit and they suppily the wrong bump stops.
  24. Hello peeps, My Koni shocks and springs arrived today, and I have found someone to fit them for a pretty good price, and I was wondering if there are any other bits and pieces he will need for fitting them. By the way I bought them from Larkspeed for £380, anyone else used this company and needed any extra bits. Cheers
