Know how you feel. I just did a similar journey in January to buy my Corrado. Good luck with it.
-
Heres mine on a set of H&R coliovers. Cant remember how much I lowered it by.
-
Sorry I thought the question was should you lower your storm or keep it standard. I was just giving you some pictures of mine to help you make your mind up. I have deleted the pictures.
-
Didnt like the 4x4 look on my Storm so added a H&R Coilover Kit. Looks much better IMO (see avatar picture). Kept the original suspension so I can replace it to go back to a stock look if required.
-
This is exactly the reason why when I bought my Storm I went for the Classic Green version. The black interior on the Mystic Blue version is just toooooo depressing  The creme black interior is much nicer IMO.

No No No. Definately No. :nono:

Kev thanks for clarifying things. Thanks to everyone else who gave advice.

Guys just to clarify things. I am running on standard BBS Solitudes 15inch and don't intend changing them as I want to keep the car standard. So which would be best the 5mm spacers or the 8mm spacers. If its the 8mm ones then do I need to really use them at the front as well?
-
I spoke to the guys I bought the coilovers from and they have two different widths of spacers and I would like some advice on which to get.. He is doing them at cost as I bought the coilovers from him. H&R DR Spacer 5mm H&R DR Spacer 8mm You guys are saying 5mm is enough but the guy I am buying them off is advising 8mm for more clearance and because he thinks it looks a better spacer. There is only £5 difference between them although he did say that long term I might be better to use the same spacers on the fronts to ensure there is no visual difference. What do you think? I dont want to spend any money I dont have to spend !

AmbisoniK thanks for the info. vwcvr6 I find the ride pretty good - given that a lot of the roads I use would not be particularly smooth :-( I don't remember how much I dropped but you can get an idea from the picture below. I had the rear lower but found the ride a little harsh, although it would look better.

I have a new set of H&R coilovers fitted and running on standard 15" BBS solitudes. The rear tyres are rubbing slightly on the springs - removing the paint on the spring. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks

I placed my tweeters in the dash - replacing the speakers already there and using the circular surround to provide a base for my new tweeters. Worked a treat and looks original. You just need to be careful when removing the old tweeter and cutting the hole. See images P1, P2 and P3 below for how it works/looks.

Well I got the kit installed yesterday. I am very pleased with the head unit but definately think the front components need a bit more bass support so I will look into getting a sub. Thanks DEL VR6 for the name of the Vibe sub you found good. Bennyd thanks for the offer of stealth shelf and speakers but I dont want rears and think I Will stick to a sub to fill the hole left by the front components.
-
Thanks guys for all the help. This is what makes the corrado forum great. :) I think I will take your advice and forget about rears. If Im not happy with the base then I can look about a small powered sub. I am going to fit it all over the weekend so I will let you all know what I think of the sound.

Bought the Pioneer P77. Ending up getting it for £180. Very happy with this buy - looks great (retro) and seems to have some quality internals. Cant wait to get it hooked up. Bought some front alpine 5.25" component speakers SXS-1357 (guy in shop recommended them - but I dont know if they are any good). Dont know what to do about handling the base though - whether to go for 6.5" component rears or just a sub. Dont like the idea of cutting holes in the rear parcel shelf - unless I can get a secondhand one somewhere. Any thoughts anyone on how to go?
-
bristolbaron - just checked a local supplier and can get the pioneer for £190 (ex display but with full warranty). Realistically I probably listen to radio 90% of time. I suppose I could spend £100 on components give or take a bit.
-
A20 LEE - thanks for the info regarding the voltage on the pre-outs. Good to know. bristolbarron - I will certainly consider the pioneer p77. Do you know if it has 4v pre-outs as recommended by A20 LEE? Its not that I am against an amp its just that I don't want the hassle of a whole re-wiring job. But thats just me being lazy  So are you saying that with decent 5.25 fronts and a small amp I will get away without a sub? I like that idea. I could spend the money saved on a better head unit and small amp and then if I really wanted a sub could get one some time later. Any recommendations on what 5.25 components would be best and can I use the existing speaker wiring from doors and dash or will I have to rewire?

Need some advice on a simple ICE setup I am considering. I am really new to this so advice will be welcome. :!: I dont want to spend a fortune and want to do as little custom modification as possible. Also want to initially stick with amplification supplied by the head unit. So, having read the various posts I have come up with the following configuration Replace the door speakers with 5.25" components, placing the tweeters in the holes occupied by the existing dash speakers. If the tweeters go in the dash is this more than the recommended distance from the woofers and if so will I need a head unit that can compensate or will this be ok. Had initially thought of Infinity 5010CS components. Will probably just disconnect the rear speakers unless someone can suggest sensible 6x4 rears that are any good. Expect that this configuration will really require a sub, so what would be best given that amplification will initially just come from head unit. Saw some posts that recommended Infinity Basslink but dont know which one. No real idea of what head units might be good but dont want to spend more than £200. I had considered a Sony CDX-GT300 (£130) or an Alpine CDA-9831R (£150), although I am open to suggestions. Also any advice (or pictures) on how best to fit the tweeters in the dash and where best to place the crossovers would be useful (wiring routes etc).

What about if you have a classic green one?[/quote:45731] VW dealer can tell you if you give them the VIN number

Hi, I'm based in NW and am taking delivery of a 95 Storm in Classic Green next week (well as long as nothing goes wrong :( ). I know of two others a G60 and VR6 in Derry.
-
Your Storm looks great. How did you get the paint work to look so good. I am taking delivery of a 95 Storm in Classic Green next week and would love to get it looking like that. The lowered suspension really helps the look of the solitude wheels.
-
If the dealers fitted the storm badges, then could the badges have been arranged differently by different dealers. I've seen storms with the following Corrado Storm VR6 and others with Corrado VR6 Storm Which is correct ?
