Having the same problem myself, so would be interested to here possible solutions. Where is the 109 relay and what does it do?
-
Spot on with the diagnosis. The seal in the tensioner piston had a hole. Have now replaced it and startup is a much less noisy affair. Cheers...

Does it most times. Up to 3 or 4 times a day depending on use. Very occasionally it will start with little or no rattle. Weird huh.

Just changed my timing chains & tensioners as part of a head overhaul. When starting the engine it make an awful rattling for the first couple of secs then it disappears. Sounds like its coming from the chains or the head. Does this sound like a problem with the top chain tensioner piston or the cam followers? It goes away as oil pressure builds, but certainly sounds very unpleasant. Followers and tensioners are all brand new. Anyone else experienced this?

Anyone out there fitted a Peloquin 80% kit? If so are they good value for money and a mod worth doing? Considering the price ($105) it seems cheap if the benefits are as good as the Peloquin website would have you believe. Don't have the cash for a full ATB, so this seems ideal.

Bentley manual states that these bolts need to be replaced if the flywheel is removed. Can anyone recommend a supplier? Thanks...

Anyone tell me the differences between the Golf and Rado VR6 box? Are they externally the same, but different ratios (shorter or longer). What about the diff ratio? Will my speedo read true? I am buying a 2.9 engine which is fitted with a low mileage golf box. Cheers...

Anyone know the thread size on the VR6 brake pipes? I assume its metric as the car is European. M10 x 1??? Need to know as I am knocking up some brake pipes for the front. Cheers..

I'm pretty new to the VR6 tuning game and I have just purchase a set of 268 cams. When I have had hot cams in other cars I've needed adjustable cam pulleys and some careful timing to get the most from the cam. Does the same stand for the VR or do they just fit as a direct replacement with the timing being unaltered from standard. Also, as I am about to do the cams I figured I may as well do the timing chain also. How difficult a job is this and can I do it with the engine in situ? Cheers...

Now I'm very worried. My car has an ABS pump but my master cylinder looks nothing like the one pictured. I wonder if a previous owner has fitted a non ABS m/c?? That might explain why my brakes are so poor... Can someone else please confirm that the m/c pictured is the one that should be fitted to a 93 VR6 with ABS. Cheers...

Someone please answer me this. Why is the brake master cylinder for ABS cars four times the price of a non ABS m/c. Can I save some cash and fit a non ABS m/c or is this a big no no? Thanks...

Pixie - thanks for the response at long last!! The matter will be closed when I receive the mounts and not before. You promised more than 3 weeks ago that I would have the mounts by the end of the week, so please excuse me if I seem a little sceptical. As you are the seller I see it as your duty to inform me of any delays, not for me to constantly chase you (using mail or pm). You were quick enough to bank my cheque, would not have taken 30 secs of your time to keep me updated. In my book waiting for 6 weeks for goods I have paid for is not acceptable. My chq was banked on 2/9, so even by your elongated timescales I should have recd the mounts 2 weeks ago. I rest my case.... And no, you have not supplied me with your e-mail address in any previous correspondence.

Happens both going forward and in reverse. Dont recall it happening when I had the standard wishbone bushes fitted. So is this a common on Corrado's?
