  1. as said above water temp gauage has stopped working. any ides of the cause? is it thermostat of some thing like the blue temp sender. for my g60 btw.

     

    also, best to go to vw for this or else where.

     

    Also no.2, gonna change my front top mounts on my passat. another vw supplyer or else where?

  2. yep i had a 63 on my passat. was told it was a 72 when i bought it. and yes a bigger crank pully too. and yes, a trip to darren with a poped oil seal in just over 10000 miles. luck to make that long really. mostly motorways.

     

    as far as performance goes. very quick off the line with oddles of low down grunt. started to peter off further up the range though. if you like short shifting it's cool. poor little g was snpinning its nuts off. i've put a 68 on now. must smoother to drive. althought if i get a rado g to molest i'll prob run a 65 depending on health of charger.


  3. just checked a set up list steve gave me when i was down there. CO pot 580ohms and BTS 220ohms. i've got standard injectors though. not sure if it alters anything?


  4. It's the linking rod between the selecting lever coming out of gearbox and the rod conected to the gear leaver. She's got a 02 pug 106 1.1.

     

    Got the offending part back on agin but the conectors look worn so gonna order a new one.

  5. Why did you have to buy a new charger? is the old one non-rebuildable. i.e fooked.

     

    if not get it rebult for about #350 and sell it on as fully functional and serviced. New ones are about #1000 from germany if i remember rightly. so some one could be willing to pay #500 if theres has grenaded it's self.

    Are those pics of the 'petie saint bernard pass', the mountain road that links the aosta valley with borg saint marice? i lived in that area for 18 months and drove it more the a few times! Fun road though, as long as your breaks are up for it.


  7. I just noticed you're from Southampton, there seem to be a few more of us round here with rados! I'm in Winchester but I'm moving to Bishops Waltham soon, give me a shout if you want a hand or anything...

     

    I'm from winchester too. not a C but have a G60 lump in my passat.

     

    a mini car meet should happen 8)


  8. er..... only thing i might think is head gasket. has your oil gone creamy?

     

    but more importantly, autotechnik are good but there labour rate are steep to say the least. i'd try to find some one local that knows there v-dubs. i discovered 'best auto' in winchester not so long ago. only used them for tyres and supention geomotry but they said they do quite alot of work on modding dubs and reasonably priced to. They knew what my car was which is always a thumbs up if you ask me :)

    in an ideal world we would be doing this but there just aint enough room to do it properly on a raddo.

  10. Hi all,

     

    I have recently noticed a noise coming from my rocker box. It is comming from the charger end of the box.

     

    I first heard it when driving at about 2000 rmp next to a wall with window down. Since then i can notice it when urban driving, mainly when pulling away from standing (not booting it) in 1st and 2nd. After that it either goes away or engine noise drounds it out, not sure which.

     

    My thoughs are tapits, Do they need adjusting? A friend of mine (JTG60) seams to think the G60 is just a tapity engine.

     

    So, just getting the thoughts of the masses.

  11. I got a question on this subject ish. Some W----r hit my wingmirror on my passat today cracking the mirror glass. i have heated mirrors. on my last car when i put a replacement mirror glass on to the original broken one it really slowed down the effect of the heated demisting thing. so much so it practically rendered it useless.

     

    not wanting to go through this again. Is there a way of getting the old mirror glass off without damaging the elements?

     

    The mirror galss hasn't smashed to smithereens just cracked in the outside bottom corner.

    A couple of questions though; What does FPR stand for? Where is/what does the fuel filter look like? Will i have an external fuel pump on a 1991 passat?

  13. Hi guys after some help.

     

    When i start my passat G60 cold and have the heaters on inside i get quite a strong smell of petrol/fumes. Not bad when moving but when sat in traffic first thing on the way to work it fills the car.

     

    I've removed the carbon canister and replace some supect looking vacuum hoses so all her hoses are good now, still geting fumey smell.

     

    Is this just the smell of a G60 when getting warm? I've only had the car a week and a half so still figureing her out.

     

    Any advice welcom.

     

    Thats why they put the carbon cainster on there.... :wink: Use the search this has been dicussed before!

     

    EDIT

    Route the breather back into the bottom of the air box straight away..8.5mm hole is all thats needed.

    This problem was there before i removed the cainster and breather has been re-routed. but thanks anyway.
