Thank's for your reply's guys. I should amend my post as I have just checked last years M.O.T certificate and it reads just "rear silencer" . I have tried looking online for a price but the closest I can come up with is about £75-85 for a rear silencer on a corrado 1.8i or the supercharged g60. I do have a memory of somebody quoting me about £75 quid at the time. Any ideas on just the rear silencer? Thank's Matt :D

Hi everbody, My car is coming up for it's dreaded M.O.T and one of the things that was mentioned as an advisory on my last M.O.T was that the exhaust back box had a crack in it and was leaking fluid. Just wondering if anybody knew how much an original replacement one costs? I have a N plate VR6. Thank's people Matt :D

Thank's for all your reply's everybody. To answer one or two of the questions posed to me. I don't think this is the engine stalling, it doesn't feel like it. It's just that the power all of a sudden is gone. It only seems to happen when I get to a junction or a roundabout. Can somebody tell me what an MAF is and an ISV? Cheers Matt :)

Thank's for your reply,it wouldn't be some kind of steering joint that's worn and needs replacing then? I will check the PAS fluid and the pump you mentioned though. Cheer's Matt

Thank's for your reply's guys, sory to sound ignorant but what is an ISV? I freely admitt to love my car but am not he most technically minded! Cheers Matt!

Hello everybody, Not sure if I am posting this in the right section, but hoped somebody might be able to help anyway. I have a 95 VR6 and it is doing something most odd but only intermittently. Sometimes whilst driving I will get to a junction or a roundabout and all of a sudden or for no reason that I know of the power goes the steering locks up and I find myself having to quickly restart the car half way across a rounabout because the steering is locked and I'm heading toward the middle of the roundabout or the wrong lane of traffic. It only happens sometimes, but as you can tell it's actually pretty dangerous, is this an electrical fault, ECU problems or something else? Anybody else experienced this? I need to cure it obviously but don't want to spend hundreds at a garage only for them to not be able to find fault with it. Thank's Matt :)

Hi, I have a 95 VR6 and the steering groans and creaks at low speeds, most noticeably when I am parking the car, it is fine at normal speeds. Anybody have any idea what it is and roughly how costly it might be to repair? Thank's for any help. Matt :)

It's an N Plate so I guess 95?

Hello All, Hoping somebody out there can help me. Sometimes when I start my Corrado VR6 the engine starts fine then cuts out straight away. I think it is a problem with the immoboliser and or ignition key, it is an intermittent fault and if I take the key away and apply heat to it the car then starts fine and doesn't cut out. Can the key be repaired or reset in some way, or do I need a new one? . It is a most frustrating and embarrasing problem, I found myself sat in Sainsburys petrol station forecourt while I tried to start the car the other day until I finally got it to go after 5 minutes or so. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank's Matt

Thank's for your reply. I think I am going to send the part off for service and repair, as trying to track down what I need is proving impossible. Apparentley the ABS units are made by Bosch, Treaves, and I think it is ATE or ATS. And I'm not sure that you can switch from one make to another, mine is an ATE unit. All I know is that it is damn inconvienient to have my car sitting in the garage because I can't drive it until it gets passed for it's M.O.T. Thank's for your help though, I do love my Corrado but on this particular occasion I wish the problem had been easier to sort out. Cheer's Matthew

I have a N plate VR6 and need a second hand ABS Pump/Modulator for it, since the car has failed it's M.O.T on it's ABS. Volkswagen want £1500 for a new one which I simply cant afford. Does anybody know where I might get a second hand one? The current module has a faulty differential lock valve (fault code 00279), the part number given to my garage by VW was 537614111. I stopped off at the garage on my way home from work today to have a look myself at the pump and the module and between us we also came up with these numbers IH2614217 and on the ABS Pump itself 10.04470743.3. If anybody can help I would be very grateful as I am without an M.O.T and thus no car because of this. The garage has also stated that I could send the parts off to a company in Gillingham called BBA for service/repair but could not get a price for me as they need to look at the units first. Help!!! Thanks Matt :)

Hello All, My N plate VR6 has just failed it's M.O.T and one of the things it failed on was the ABS. Apparentely I need a new ABS Pump/Modulator, unfortunately I have been quoted £1500 for a new one from volkswagen. This is out of the question. I have been trying to get my hands on a second hand one with no luck, alternatively it has been suggested that I send it off to a firm for repair, but I have not been advised on what this would cost because they they cant tell until they look at it. If anybody has any experience of this kind of problem I would be very grateful for any advice. Apparentely the differential lock valve is at faut (fault code 00279) within the module. I have been quoted part number 537614111 by volkswagen. I need to get this problem sorted out quickly because I am without a car, everything else on the M.O.T is fixed, just need to get this sorted. Thanks Matt

Anybody know what the part numbers might be? I've had a quick look on their site and can only spy cross drilled discs for the rear wheels. Matt :?:
-
Please excuse my ignorance, but who or what are GSF? When I replace my discs I want Cross Drilled Ones and would like some advice on where to get them and do they need new/different pads as well? Thank's for your help people Matt :?:
-
Anybody know if you can fit Cross drilled brake discs to a VR6 on 15" Speedline wheels? Cheers Matt :?:

Well Thanks everyone, So roughly a fiver for each corner then? Thats sounds okay.I've just taken one of my wheels off to have it refurbished.Correction I tried taking one of my wheels off only to find that the corrosion between the hub and the alloy wheel had caused it to seize. So I took it to the place to be refurbished and they done it their for me,they made it look ridicoulsly easy and me feel very stupid all in a very short space of time.I tried whacking the wheel with some wood and a hammer but it wouldn't budge, plus the car was up on it's flimsy looking jack that I was terrified would come away with any sudden violent movements.Anyway I've now got the spacer wheel on that looks like it's come off a pram,so I'm driving around at the moment feeling a little uneasy. The guys at Spit and Polish said that the two wheels I'm having done won't turn out the same colour as those on the otherside, but I figured they must be pretty darn close and I'd still rather have them slightly not matched(but looking new) than having them scuffed up and corroded. While I'm here does anybody know about getting the rear bush's replaced.I had the car serviced back in December and it came out as a standard service but I asked them to look out for other stuff that might need doing. My mate works their and he told me that the rear bush's are kind of perished and that in the not too distant future I will need them done.I asked him if it was particularly expensive and he said it's not so much the cost of the bush's but the labour.Apparentley the rear axle has to be dropped and it's about 5 hours labour at say £60 an hour.Anybody had any experience having this done. 8) Matt

Thanks for everyone getting back to me on this subject.I took a look at the mytres.co.uk website yesterday and it seems as though they've got some good prices on their tyres.Only thing is how do you get them fitted? Do they have their own network of garages/dealers that you have to go to or will anybody do it.I can't imagine other tyre outlets fitting tyres for you that you purchased elsewhere.Does anyone know about this? I'm thinking about going with Goodyear Eagle F1's. Thank's Matt

Hello, I was just wondering if their was a general opinion on what the best tyres are for a corrado VR6.I've got a standard N reg VR6 with the speedline alloys(which I'm getting refurbished) and I need to replace the tyres soon.I was thinking along the lines of Toyo Proxes,Goodyear Eagle F1's.or Pirelli P-Zeroes.Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thank's Matthew :?:

I've had my VR6 for just over a year now and I love it,the only problem being that it sometimes has problems starting.I will get in the car and turn the ignition and after 1 or 2 seconds the engine cuts off,it fires and starts O.K but then just dies.I've been told by VW to try using my other ignition key because they contain chips that can misbehave with the immobiliser and shut the engine off that way.I've also been told that it might be that the automatic choke needs some adjustment. After many attempts at trying to start the car when it is acting like this it will eventually start and keep running, almost as if the car has finally figured out what it's supposed to be doing.Any help would be much appreciated. Matthew :x

Well, I've just come back from my local VW dealer, and the news is not good. They can get a replacement front bumper cover for £97.50 and then to prepare and paint the front bumper is £360.57.Unfortunately I also need a replacement indicator unit, that's £26.00,and get this, their is a plastic or rubber seal that goes around the indicator and fog light units. That is £93.00,and worst of all,a small thin strip of metal known as the lockcarrie which got bent, and that is £457.80.Now I expected the bumper to be quite pricey, but the lockcarrie as far as i can see is just a long thin piece of metal that sits between the bumper and the headlights,I just don't know how they can justify charging £457 for it.Anyway rather than paying out for that I'm just gonna have it pulled back out and resprayed, and I'm not going to pay £93 for the foglamp seal either, once the work is all done you shouldn't be able to notice that. The car was going in anyway to have its brake fluid regulator unit replaced since that was leaking plus a small oil leak that needed a new seal/and or gasket.Man,oh man don't these things all just have a habit of happening at once.Luckily a friend of mine works at this dealership and I know he will do what he can to try and reduce the costs, but it still is gonna be getting on for a grand. One small lapse of concentration and now I've got all this crap to put up with. The thing about it was the guy who I hit was perfectly calm,he just got out looked quickly at the rear of his car, said "I'm O.K I've got a towbar" and then after both of us agreeing we didn't want to go any further with it,he got back in his car and went.Meanwhile my car sits looking sadly spoiled. It's a great car and I do love driving it but I'm just praying I don't do anything like this again

Thanks for your help guys.obviously I would like to spend the least amount of money possible, having said that £300 for a new one isn't as bad as I'd feared.I was thinking it was going to be in the region of £500.While I'm doing this, does anyone know if you can get vented front discs that will fit the standard wheels.I feel like I want a performance brake upgrade now!

Hello everyone!, I'm new to this so I guess I'd better get this out the way first.Had a knock in my VR6 today and hit the car in front(my fault entirely).Anyway I now have a nice towbar dent in my front bumper, plus a broken indicator housing.I think it's gonna be a new bumper,I know these aren't cheap ,but I don't know exactly how much I'm likely to pay.So does anyone have any ideas on cost? I'm really pissed about this but I've got to get it sorted.Thank's for any information on cost :(
