  1. I haven't tried what Joni has suggested as yety, but have been putting injector cleaner in the fuel over the last week or so which seems to have helped a bit...doesn't start immediately, but certainly quicker than it did. So may go down the injector cleaning route first....
  2. Cheers for all the advice guys...should keep me occupied for a while! Will let you know if this sorts the problem...
  3. Well I'm going to try a few of the cheaper/easier options first, so will let you know if I have any joy! Floopyman, no I'm not from Portugal....my names Pete but I think PeteVR6 was already taken when I registered!!
  4. Thanks mate...don't have access to a VAGCOM but will try what you have suggested with spark plug. Once it's going it seems to run fine, smooth idling & pulls well. Doesn't seem to stink of fuel, and MPG is 20-22 round town, 32-35 on a run....not sure if that's good or not to be honest!
  5. Ok thanks...yeah, be good to know if that solves the problem for you.
  6. Thanks for your reply....I've tried leaving ignition on for 10-15 seconds & then trying to start but doesn't seem to make much difference. Although if the car has been running, I switch it off then then try to start again straight away it's fine, just if I leave it for 10/15 mins then try to start it won't start first time/starts very slowly....
  7. Hi All, Have read through similar topics but none seem to mention the exact problem that I have - recently bought a '94 Auto VR6, & am having issues with it starting slowly. It turns over for about 7/8 seconds, then I stop & turn over again & it starts pretty much straight away. So I'm assuming it's a fuel related problem....people seem to mention fuel filters, fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulators, or fuel lift pump (assume VR6 has one of these?).... Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated! Cheers!
  8. Looks like it was just the O ring ( touch wood! ), so hopefully the water problem will be no longer. Cheers for all the help
  9. The leak has shown its face! Steam & water p*ssing out of the join between the hose & the top right hand side of the radiator. Think there is a rubber seal there, which may have split? Anyone else had this - gather you can buy these seals, although not sure what it would be called!?
  10. Cheers lads, thanks for your help
  11. Hi, My 94 VR6 is using about half litre of water a day - I fill up the expansion tank every morning & the next morning when I start up, the water light's flashing & the tank's empty. I drive approx 50 miles a day, mostly down the motorway, so could it be pissing out somewhere when its hot, as can't see any leaks on drive etc? It used to use about half a litre a week, then when I took it for MOT they said there was water leaking out of the pump, so replaced pump & water loss reduced a lot, but now it's more than before! Can't see any water in oil etc, & seems to be running too well for headgasket etc although there is a 'miss' every now & then, but this seems more of an electrical thing. I know it's a bit of a long shot, but any one got any ideas? Cheers!
  12. Does anyone know where you can buy a Supersprint decat pipe for a VR6 - I've cancelled my order for a Millitek one after reading the above!! Cheers!!
  13. Just looking for some ideas really - over the last month or so my VR has become a bit 'lumpy' when accelerating through the lower revs. Before that it used to accelerate really smoothly from 2k revs upwards, where as now it seems to only really accelerate really well form 4k upwards. What could cause this / how could I improve this?? Spark plugs only done approx 7k miles - would new fuel filter help? Anything else? All ideas appreciated. Cheers!!
  14. Cheers mate - gives me somewhere to start
  15. Hi, Wondered if anyone has got any ideas on this?? I'm using a litre a week at the moment, but there's no sign of a leak on the floor, no water in the oil ( thought might be head gasket ), heating still works, and runs and starts perfectly. I read a topic below where a VR was using 500ml every 3-4 weeks, and they seemed to conclude it was the heater matrix, but mines using much more than that. ????? Cheers!
