  1. Thanks for your reply....I've tried leaving ignition on for 10-15 seconds & then trying to start but doesn't seem to make much difference.

Although if the car has been running, I switch it off then then try to start again straight away it's fine, just if I leave it for 10/15 mins then try to start it won't start first time/starts very slowly....

  2. Hi All,

Have read through similar topics but none seem to mention the exact problem that I have - recently bought a '94 Auto VR6, & am having issues with it starting slowly. It turns over for about 7/8 seconds, then I stop & turn over again & it starts pretty much straight away.

So I'm assuming it's a fuel related problem....people seem to mention fuel filters, fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulators, or fuel lift pump (assume VR6 has one of these?)....

Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated!

    Cheers!

  3. The leak has shown its face! Steam & water p*ssing out of the join between the hose & the top right hand side of the radiator.

Think there is a rubber seal there, which may have split?

Anyone else had this - gather you can buy these seals, although not sure what it would be called!?

  4. Hi,

My 94 VR6 is using about half litre of water a day - I fill up the expansion tank every morning & the next morning when I start up, the water light's flashing & the tank's empty. I drive approx 50 miles a day, mostly down the motorway, so could it be pissing out somewhere when its hot, as can't see any leaks on drive etc?

It used to use about half a litre a week, then when I took it for MOT they said there was water leaking out of the pump, so replaced pump & water loss reduced a lot, but now it's more than before!

Can't see any water in oil etc, & seems to be running too well for headgasket etc although there is a 'miss' every now & then, but this seems more of an electrical thing.

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but any one got any ideas?

    Cheers!

  5. Just looking for some ideas really - over the last month or so my VR has become a bit 'lumpy' when accelerating through the lower revs. Before that it used to accelerate really smoothly from 2k revs upwards, where as now it seems to only really accelerate really well form 4k upwards. What could cause this / how could I improve this??

Spark plugs only done approx 7k miles - would new fuel filter help? Anything else?

    All ideas appreciated.

    Cheers!!

  6. Hi,

Wondered if anyone has got any ideas on this??

I'm using a litre a week at the moment, but there's no sign of a leak on the floor, no water in the oil ( thought might be head gasket ), heating still works, and runs and starts perfectly.

I read a topic below where a VR was using 500ml every 3-4 weeks, and they seemed to conclude it was the heater matrix, but mines using much more than that.

    ?????

    Cheers!

  7. I thought that might be the case - cheers lads.

Guess I'll have to wait and see if I can find some 2nd hand!

Any othger suggestions for wheels - seems to me there's only certain wheels that look good on red motors - especially as I wanted 15's preferably...

    Hello!

Just a quick question for anyone who might be able to help - Is there anywhere you can buy REAL BBs split rim alloys - like the ones on the link above ( 2nd car down in left hand column ). Also, do you thunk these are 15's??

Need to get some new wheels and I can only find replicas? And V.expensive replicas at that!

    Any help much appreciated!!!

    Cheers
