  1. Oh come on. this is another hate thread. we all like corrados - sure. but the ctr is not as bad as most of you are making out. it may not be our/your preference or suit our driving wants/style - but its not a bad car. many owners love them - as corrado owners love their cars.

I would have to say that is indeed a hate thread!!! I think the points about the low torque figures are fair enough and I will definately admit that they are reletively common when compared to Rados... However, after owning a Rado G60 until early this year and now owning a CTR I would have to say I know which one I would choose!

The Civic is an awesome car, yeah whilst the torque is low when you're at low levs this doesn't really make any odds at all as all you do is drop it down a couple of gears get it into the vtec and your pulling away as if you had a turbo strapped to the B*stard.

Secondly quite why some of your feel that the interior is horrible I really just don't understand, it's generally minimal (By the way I am talking about the EP3 CTR which is the 01 - 06 model, and not the new one cos I hate that  ) comfortable and the nice bits of red give it something to drag it away from the normal grey and black. AFAIC if had to choose between the two interors I would rather have it look like as someone so nicely put it "the hi-fi section in the argos catalogue" than (as I shall so nicely put it!) the inside of someones briefcase!!

Now please do not get me wrong I did really like my Corrado and it did always put a smile on my face (not including when I drove it in the wet as quite frankly it was terrible, and when I had a few problems but due to the fact that it was 15 years old I forgave it) but driving the civic in all weathers at any time makes me smile.

i just thought I would add this as quite honestly topics like this on single make/model forums seem to be pointless as I would quite happilly say on the Civic forum, the Corrado is so different from the Civic Type that I wouldn't expect many people to like them as the many things that I liked in the Corrado the Civic either doesn't have or has a completely differenty way of achieving the same thing.

I think all I'm asking from people is that they don't call them a souless car and all that and just respect them for what they are, an awesome piece of engineering and a damn fine car as well, all of which are built and hand finished in our very own country.

    Thanks for listening

    Tom.

Oh P.S. this does really only apply to the EP3 and earlier type Rs as quite honestly the new one is just rediculous, where the EP3 had nothing but a Tacho, a speedo, a fuel gauge and water temp the FN2 has F*cking 2 tonnes of Sat Nav and iPod docks and five times the amount of sound proofing and all that Sh*t, the nice thing about the EP3 is the fact that it's basic, it does what it says on the tin and not much more.

  2. Alright Lisa,

I was thinking about the Rado the otehr day so thought I swing by and see what you have done to old girl since you've have it.... It's looking the Danglers if you ask me, I'm loving the Badgeless Grille and eyebrow.

Glad to see the Suspension has been changed, I think what was on there before was probably the worst sus ever, god knows where it was from!!!

    Anyway it's looking sweet.

    Take it easy,

    t.

  3. Hey,

This is probably gonna sound a bit n00bish but well I can't help it!

I've been thinking about selling my G60 for a while now, my main reason for selling is the fact that I do a fair few miles a year and don't wanna do it in the Rado because of the charger rebuilds etc so it's costing me lots to insure to sit in the garage all week. Now I have been agenising over selling it as quite honestly I don't want to but needs must and all that! Something dawned on me today though  What about fitting a turbo instead of the supercharger?

Now I'm sure this has been posted up a billion times before but the search function aint working properly so I'm forced to post!!

Sorry to ramble!! Anyway I basically want to know what I would need to do this kind of conversion? I have an IHI VF24 in mind for the turbo. What other components am I going to need? And what should I expect from doing such a conversion (better power etc etc), I currently have a big valve head with green tops and a Piper 270 Cam fitted and obvioulsy the S5 Charger (which will need to go!)

Sorry to go on but some advice would be great as this may stop me selling the beast.

    Cheers

    Tom

  4. Its not a difficult job but it does take a while

    good write up here

    http://www.corrado-club.ca

Damn that is a write up!!! Well I'm hoping I don't have to take the whole dash out cos.. well i really don't want to! So hopefully with the detail from that one and the instructions from the one of here I hope I will be onto a winner!!

  5. Well the GSF one it is then..... I'm not paying 120 quid for somat that I could buy 3 times over from GSF even if the quality isnt quite as good!!

The Matrix replacement on here seems a little vague. is this really all I need to do to repalce it?

Cheers for the advice so far though. :)

    t.

  6. Hey,

I know someone else has just posted up a heater matrix prob but this a bit different! Not got any dampness in the foot wells or anything but steam is visible coming out of the vents everytime the blowers are turned on and the whole car steams up and wont clear! I havn't had time to check anything out other than the interior cos it's dark now!

    Any ideas??

  7. Just thought I would add an updated pic with the new grill... I'm now thinking along the lines of replacing the indicators and fogs with late style clear ones as the front seems a bit too black for me! Also going to tint a different set of rear lights black but lacquer them as well so they are as shiny as the rest of the car!! Any thoughts??

  8. I have to say for a cheap runround the MK1 Nissan Micra has to be the ultimate!! :D 50MPG, Group 1 Insurance, bullet proof engines and with a sh*t brown 80s jap interior you really can't go wrong!!

Mine cost me £30 quid with 3 months MOT and 4 months Tax. Needed a bit of filler around one of the arches a new centre section of exhaust and some new brake pads (all of which I had from a previous Micra!!). And all is well!

Of course if you are looking for somat classy I would go for somat else!!

  9. Cheers for the comments so far guys!! Have been in touch with Darren about getting the FMIC fitted and really just waiting for comfirmation that all will be well with it then I shall be getting that sorted! Looking forward to getting it fitted! Also considering changing my gauges for some DDI ones with rear white illumintation and the reversed red MFA etc. Anyone else ever fitted these before?

  10. Hey all...

Well have been registered on this forum for a while now but don't really get a chance to post all that often but after finally buying a Corrado (My first one!!) from Stevemac (As some of you may know!) Just thought I would post a few pictures up here now that I am an official Corrado owner !!

Just a few images that I took a couple of weeks ago, I havn't had a chance to detail properly as the weather has been pretty Sh*t down here in Norwich so when it gets better I will post more up!

Piper 270 degree cam with Kent adjustable cam pulley

    Fully ported throttle body

    Jabbasport Cone Filter with heatshield

    Magnex stainless steel exhaust

    CAT bypass pipe

I got a nice Merc Vito intercooler included with the car although not really sure how to fit it so a trip to G-works may be in order!!

Tinted Rears and front fog lights

8 Bar Grill  But a 4 Bar with black VW badge has been ordered!

Not sure on suspension at the mo I know that the rears are adjustable and the front are not however unsure of what make etc!

Interior wise its in good nick, the only real addition being a Momo wheel oh and Steve gave me a fridge that fits nicely where the rear armrest is!!

    Plans

Not much at the mo as I do like it as it is but the only I things I am gonna change in the near future are:

Uprated Headlamp Loom(I didn't actually believe the headlights were as bad as everyone says they are but My god!!!!)

Gonna change the rear lights with some Smoked M3 style ones I think although these tinted ones are growing on me!

    Fit the intercooler obviously

In the future I would like to fit a TT dash and seats (I know its been done a few times but I love it!!)

Hope you guys like it, comments always welcome

    Cheers
