  1. Right, i think i will be giving this car some more thought then. I have been in touch with the boke today and he says he will start advertising it today. I am not going to hang about as i know C's go pretty fast (Decent ones anyway) but even if i dont get this one, there another 2 i have my eye one. I will keep you all posted and hopefully this weekend i will be actually owning a C instead of droning on about buying one Cheers everyone
  2. just found out that the seller is a forum member (although he is just a newbie like myself) mmm, i am getting tempted again. i would have spare cash left over to fix the central locking and buy some other bits and bobs too. i just dont know!
  3. your all confusing me now, lol. I had all but decided to write that one off and walk away. tbh, the guy selling the car seemed really geniune, the car ran fine on the test drive (no tappits, no knocking on steering when cornering, ride was smooth, gear box and clutch both seemed fine and it pulled nice with 3 people in) the interior and the colour were both what i was looking for. oh!!!! what to do!
  4. gutted mate!! like everyone else has said tho, at least you have walked away. could have been different. hope the car is ok!
  5. how would i check if it had been taxed in that period? or is that simple and i am just not using my brain. there are another 2 i have seen, one from a forum member and also one on autotrader, i will be going to have a look this weekend. we shall see what happens after that.
  6. thanks guys I really do appreciate all the advice. its just its my first time buying a C and i dont want to buy a complete shed and it spoil the little fantasy i have had about owning one. The car is fine, drives fine, looks perfect (bodywork, colour, leather trim, 17" alloys etc) and the low miles seem a bonus too. Its just it was the first one i had looked at and i didnt want to fall prey to the "buy the first one you look at" syndrome. it has got a HPI cert that he did, its got 9 months test on it too. Cheers
  7. appropriate me thinks !!! lol
  8. yeah, i have come to that decision myself tbh. although i hate to walk away from those lovely leather seats and the colour was gorgeous, i am gonna use my head instead of following my heart.
  9. thanks. easy to fit? i am no good ubder the bonnet of a car tbh. anything else? Cheers
  10. I havent even got one yet, lol, but i have been a good boy and done my homework and i know that as standard a 2l 16V comes with 135BHP or there abouts. What i want to know is the easiest (not necessarily cheapest tho!) way to increase BHP. After an uprated exhaust and air filter is there anything else i can do? I'd like to get it to as close to 160 as poss! Any ideas Cheers
  11. Thanks for the advice. Still pretty sure i am writing that one off, too many question marks over it. I am gonna keep on looking, just hope i am not looking for too long.
  12. just spoke to the seller, he hasnt got any reciepts/bills etc so its not looking good for getting that car. :( thanks for your help, and let me know if you hear of any 1.8 or 2.0 16v being sold anywhere?! cheers :help:
  13. Ok, i think you have convinced me now, although like i said, the car is lovely. How common is it to get a full (or near as damn it) service history on a car that old? i know a lot of the C's have been enthusiast owned, but i have seen some on autotrader that have not got the full history. how important is a fully stamped book to everyone? I might be sounding a bit naive here but i am new to all this so i am really grateful for the advice. Cheers
