would you buy under these circumstances?..............
DannyBwoy replied to DannyBwoy's topic in General Car Chat
Right, i think i will be giving this car some more thought then. I have been in touch with the boke today and he says he will start advertising it today. I am not going to hang about as i know C's go pretty fast (Decent ones anyway) but even if i dont get this one, there another 2 i have my eye one. I will keep you all posted and hopefully this weekend i will be actually owning a C instead of droning on about buying one Cheers everyone -

your all confusing me now, lol. I had all but decided to write that one off and walk away. tbh, the guy selling the car seemed really geniune, the car ran fine on the test drive (no tappits, no knocking on steering when cornering, ride was smooth, gear box and clutch both seemed fine and it pulled nice with 3 people in) the interior and the colour were both what i was looking for. oh!!!! what to do! -

how would i check if it had been taxed in that period? or is that simple and i am just not using my brain. there are another 2 i have seen, one from a forum member and also one on autotrader, i will be going to have a look this weekend. we shall see what happens after that. -

thanks guys I really do appreciate all the advice. its just its my first time buying a C and i dont want to buy a complete shed and it spoil the little fantasy i have had about owning one. The car is fine, drives fine, looks perfect (bodywork, colour, leather trim, 17" alloys etc) and the low miles seem a bonus too. Its just it was the first one i had looked at and i didnt want to fall prey to the "buy the first one you look at" syndrome. it has got a HPI cert that he did, its got 9 months test on it too. Cheers -
appropriate me thinks !!! lol

yeah, i have come to that decision myself tbh. although i hate to walk away from those lovely leather seats and the colour was gorgeous, i am gonna use my head instead of following my heart. -
Easiest way to increase BHP on a 2l 16V?..............
DannyBwoy replied to DannyBwoy's topic in Engine Bay
thanks. easy to fit? i am no good ubder the bonnet of a car tbh. anything else? Cheers -
I havent even got one yet, lol, but i have been a good boy and done my homework and i know that as standard a 2l 16V comes with 135BHP or there abouts. What i want to know is the easiest (not necessarily cheapest tho!) way to increase BHP. After an uprated exhaust and air filter is there anything else i can do? I'd like to get it to as close to 160 as poss! Any ideas Cheers

Ok, i think you have convinced me now, although like i said, the car is lovely. How common is it to get a full (or near as damn it) service history on a car that old? i know a lot of the C's have been enthusiast owned, but i have seen some on autotrader that have not got the full history. how important is a fully stamped book to everyone? I might be sounding a bit naive here but i am new to all this so i am really grateful for the advice. Cheers -

thanks for that. The 16V was one he bought to sell, he said his gf had a C aswell. The buying and selling of the cars is a sideline to his main job, so thats why he wasnt driving the 16V. He also wasnt the person who stored the car, this was before he owned it but was told about it when he bought it. But thanks for the advice, i am wary of the circumstances slightly and it has annoyed me 'cos the car is exactly what i am looking for (colour, mileage, leather, alloys etc). Like you have said tho, there are plenty out there and i think it might mean travelling a little bit more than i wanted to, oh well!! Cheers -
Hi I have put a few posts on here today, i am probably gonna start annoying everyone soon. Just wanted to ask what peoples opinion was of service history on oldish C's. If a car has really low miles for the year (75k on a G) and no service history for the last 25k and 9 years, would this ring any alarm bells? The guy who is selling says it has been stored for a couple of years since 1996 ( 96-98) hence the low miles. Also, and i dont want to make it sound really dodgy, but i met him at a lock up where he stored the car. What do you think of this? He told me he only lived round the corner. He seemed like a genuine Corrado enthusiast (he drove a VR6 Storm in really good nic) and a really nice bloke but the combination of the above are really the only things that are making me wary of the car. Any opinions would be appreciated Thanks

Okies, thanks mate. You dont think that central locking, the mud gaurd and sunroof not working properly is a lot to have to sort out then as i can see these as the only things actually wrong with it? Cheers
-
cheers mate Helps a lot. looking to buy my first C and this is a really nice one, just a few bits to sort out if i go for it. Also, the front mud gaurd under the near side wheel arch is missing, are these easy to pick up? Cheers

The guy did pull back the carpet to check and said that all the rest of the stuff was there except the pump, so i am guessing that it will have had it at some point. easy job? or pain in the arse? cheers
-
Hi Yeah, i am looking to buy a G plate 1.8. Its a lovely car (pearl blue with black leather, 75k on cloack) but there are a few 'niggly' things wrong, one of them being the central locking (if you hadnt already guessed) The guy said the 'pump' was missing but that it should have central locking. any ideas? Cheers
-
Hi I am interested to know if anyone has ever had to fix their central locking? The car should have it but the main mechanism is missing. Does anyone know how much this might cost to buy, and could i fix it myself or would i be best letting someone else do it? Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks
