hmm not sure some of you totaly understand were im coming from! iv always owned older cars (oldest my '72 escort newest '90 RS) so i understand that wear and fatigue in parts will occure, they have too, nothing lasts forever i was just checking that there not cars from hell  as mate s have brought lancias and renaults and to be fair i wouldnt keep a dog in em! when you see the cars i drive youl understand im not a boy racer! things should look standard, and the only parts i beleive should be messed with are the bits out of sight, suppose street sleepers youd call em, but definatly not a fibreglass bumperd space ship driving chav youd find thrashing round a shopping centre! :fadein: corrados sound like a good motor think il be treating my self some time soon! cheers

im a comeptent mechanic, having only owned ford rs's and lookin for something different im testing the water before rushing in. problems like shocks, exhausts blowing trim faults arnt realy what i class as a problem! more like chargers letting go, porus heads, sticky valves, weak gear boxes, crap suspension setups and more serious problems etc. small problems through general use are to be expected on any car, im just seeing if there anywere near as problamatic as other cars of this spec eg rs turbos r5 turbos lancia deltas etc. iv also got a mk1 escort fitted with a vauxhall c20xe so im not scared of a spanner! the golfs have a reputation of being a well built good strong car are these of a simalar build quality?

see this is more the reply im after! cheers! any1 else?

i dont mind the usual probs associated with cars of this age but i dont want to be reaching into my wallet every 30secs to keep it on the road, if i wanted that sort of grief id buy an escort rs turbo! is this the sort of car they are?
-
what sort of repaires? no1s really sayin anything specific! obviously cars need maintaining within reason, even brand spankers! but what seem to be common probs? which is the more reliable g60 or vr6?
-
lookin to buy a g60 or vr6 but people on here keep sayin to start savin now to pay for all the repaires ill need to do! are they realy this high maintenance (engine wise) ill buy one with all the relevant service history but are they problamatic cars? getting contrasting veiws on what to buy too as i want it for country lane bashin and the od track day or two, so what are you using them for?
-
resprayed not really interested want original!
-
The G60 is not really suited to track driving as it tends to get very hot and its power is lower down the revs (not really a track ideal). The obvious choice is the VR , but you could also get a really cheap valver and do an engine transplant.... not really lookin to do a transplant as iv got a mk1 escort with a c20xe in so this would really be my "nice" car for eveery day! are they much trouble as people keep sayin save my penniews for repaires?
-
are they really that high maintenence/troublsome?

cheers! i was after a vr6 realy what is the top sort of milleage youd really want as iv seen em with 140000 on the clock but only ever having fords before id be expecting the crank to be making an external apperance at this kind of milleage! do you come acsross mant with leather as iv not found one yet for any price? im after a standard car is this the best option? dan

hi im looking to purchase my first corrado and was looking for any opions on which model to go for bearing in mind ill spend up to £3500 although dont have to. Im into fast road and track driving ( im not a nobby boy racer though!) and was looking for any pointers on what to look for, eg acceptable milleage, servicing, common faults to look for etc any help would be greatly redeived, cheers dan
