Glad to see the seats have gone to a good home, and that so many members like them. Sadly I'm selling my Rado so wanted to pass the seats back into the fold where they belong!! Take it easy Chris and keep up the good work on the C, its looking good. :salute:

Anyone got any quick fix ideas for fixing wiper linkages back together? The two main linkages have come apart, I can't figure out whats happened really. The wiper motr still works and turns the linkage round. But where this linking arm meets the next arm they have come apart. They still link together but there is nothing holding them together so every time you turn the wipers on the linkages just come apart and the wipers stop! (Looks like a stop cap or something might have come off but I don't know how they're supposed to stay connected so can't realy tell) I could do with a quick fix really as its my daily driver and can't really do without wipers in this weather!

Hmm interesting. It does seem like the valvers have thirsty engines. Mine's been serviced so should be running well. I think i've got some exhaust problems with a bit of a leak between joints so that might not be helping. I'm going to change the exhaust setup again and see if that makes any difference.

So everyone loves the sound of the VR!! Looks like I need to go to some meets. I was going to go to the recent south coast meet but had to change my lambda probe at the time. Oooh I want a VR now, esp if I can get one for £2k, i'd be well chuffed with that :D

I'm being swayed to the VR even more! Where's all the G60 owners? I think a VR will be more likely for me, but I have seen some nice G60s for sale on the forum recently. Trouble is now I'm thinking about it I want one now! Realistically I'd be looking at 6 months to a year minimum to save up for a good VR. Don't want to buy one with loads of problems!

Interesting swfblade, thanks. I thought it'd be something like that. So far I've only driven a valver so it seems fairly quick to me but I know the others are just going to make me smile even more! I must say I'm swaying more to the VR for a few reasons, partly being able to get a newer one, trouble is if I got one I'd want a good one and thats going to cost me! Better start saving either way. I'm on the lookout for local Gs and VRs at traders so I can have a test drive. Could take a long time though, don't think I've ever seen a G60 for sale anywhere except on the forum or a knacker on ebay. Anyone else got any opinions?

I don't normally come in this section but wanted to chat about different Corrados. I've got a 2L valver which I love. It's in good condition with a good engine, it’s the late type but only just (Dec 92). Anyway although I love the valver I can't stop thinking about G60s and VR6s !! The valver is quick and I love the torque and power at high revs but I guess I'm looking for a bit more power and speed. I've been converted to Corrado's now so I guess its natural progression. But is it worth it? I'd need to save a lot of money to sell the valver and buy a good G60 or VR6, guess I'd need £2.5 to £3k on top of my valver which is a lot more money. I guess I'm not sure whether to do it or not as I do like my valver. I'd like to hear from anyone that's had a valver and a G60 or VR6, are they that much better? Or is it just the VR6 owners making out they are sooo much better cos that’s what they've got  no offence! Then there's the next question G60 or VR6? I can't make up my mind on that either!

Oh no, don't say that  I need to save money on fuel, not put up with it!! I'm really sure I used to get more like 28 to 30 mpg a few months ago though. Anyone else got any ideas? I'm not ready for engine conversions just yet!!

Hi Guys My 2L valver is still using way too much fuel. I changed the lambda probe a couple of weeks ago and that has helped but its still way off what it should be. With the old lambda I was looking at 15-18MPG, since changing the lambda I get 20-22MPG. I got it up to 23MPG on a 1 hour motorway run so its obviously still using way too much fuel. These readings are off the MFA but I've checked it by measuring miles and gallons used and this is definitely the fuel consumption rate. I was hoping it'd be 30ish especially on the motorway. I think there must be something else as well as the lambda. Any ideas what? I'm a bit stumped. Cheers

You didn't say in your first post if you had G12+ coolant in already? When I bought mine it had some other coolant and it was always running at 100-110 for the water and 105 to 115 for the oil. I changed the coolant for G12+ and now it runs between 90 to 105 for both. Totally sorted the problem and I couldn't believe waht a difference it made. YOu might want to try that as a quick and easy fix and check your thermostat at the same time. I'm no expert but think a dodgy stat will cause your bottom hose to be cooler than the top hose. There's loads of posts on here about testing it in a pan like Supercharged said. I think it should open at 80 degrees.

I tried changing my lambda probe yesterday but couldn't get the damn thing off for the life of me! There's no access to get a spanner round it while the cat is on the car. I think its rusted up so I can't get enough pressure on it to remove it. Any ideas? I've tried WD40!! Don't suppose there's a special tool for getting it off is there? My next resort is to take the cat off first but the screws holding the cat on are so knackered I won't get them back on so I need to get replacements first.

I got mine from VW spares which is the same as in your link nocrap. They are the Beru ones like Jim mentioned. Sounds like they're about the cheapest around after all. I'll let you know if they're any good! Mic_VR afraid I don't know about these high spark leads so can't help. I guess if they do give a better spark they might be worth it, price is a bit of an issue for me at the mo tho as so many things need replacing!!

I just paid £65 for a set of HT Leads and spark plugs for my 2L 16v. Is that about the right sort of price? Seems a bit pricey to me, must be getting old I guess

Thanks for all your help. I've changed the exhaust now as I had no silencers and there were some leaks which probably wasn't helping. I've also changed the oil. Since doing that there hasn't been any more black soot or oil coming from the exhaust but still not sure its cured. The MPG is still poor so I'm thinking lambda probe as suggested. I'm fairly sure the head gasket hasn't gone, the oil was fine and not watery at all and the filler cap is clean. The coolant is also fine. So I'm going to search about the lambda probe, is it easy to get hold of and change? Sounds expensive! Then if that doesn't help I'll get the engine looked at to check piston rings/valve seals I guess.

It does seem to be smoking more than it used to out the back of the exhaust. Its hard to tell in the cold but i'd say it is fairly smoky. It's not black smoke, mainly white/grey but when I hold a cloth over the end of the exhaust, it gets covered quite quickly in a black watery/oily type mixture. And if I wipe inside the exhaust its oily. The car seems to run ok, no noticeable loss in power, although the MPG is bad. I'm getting about 20mpg on the MFA reading on a fairly long drive which seems worse than it should be. Haven't changed the oil recently at all. Last one was in April, its about due a change. I've checked the oil level, its ok, a bit low so I topped it up but it didn't need much. I also looked at the oil cap and inside and there's no sign of any water or sludge in there.
