  1. solved - the live feed to the actuator(?) and handle switch had corroded and broken Cheers
  2. I suspect the microswitch in my driver's door of a VR6 '94 has died so wondered if I can simply swap the driver's door handle with the passenger door handle as that is working fine? Cheers
  3. had a look inside and: - orange (air?) pipe firmly attached - connectors from 3 wires of handle clean/well connected - no sign of metal rod from push knob catching anywhere - it did work once when I was messing around (and that was with the connctors unattached?!) So am guessing the micro switch(?) in the handle has dies? If so, can I switch over the passenger handle with the driver's handle? Cheers
  4. Got a '94 VR6 - on the driver's door, the key has suddenly stoped locking/opening the central locking but will lock/open just the driver's door. From inside the car, if I lock the driver's door by pushing down the knob, the CL works fine, and likewise, the CL is perfect on the passenger's door. Have tried to remove the door handle, sprayed with WD40 esp where the wires are connected but no joy! Any clues? And to remove the handle completely, do I have to remove the door card to get to the back of the handle? Cheers
  5. sorted! A bolt on the pulley rod behind the gear box was slightly loose - seems fine now tightened!
  6. thanks - altho mine matches your photo and the circlip has a thin metal circular plate on the outer??? But seems OK?
  7. Hi - got a '94 VR6 - suddenly, I'm really struggling to get it into reverse. The gearbox feels smooth, never happened before. When trying to get reverse, the gear stick pushes down as usual (or seems usual), seems to go into reverse but it's first gear! No grating/odd noises. Have taken the cloth cover off, and it looks slightly as if the gear stick is catching the metal plate and maybe not able to push down far enough to engage reverse??? Can't recall any reason why suddenly got this problem - first time it happened was on a super hot day when the engine was pretty hot? Any clues pls? Thanks
  8. Thanks all - is bleach OK on the paintwork?
  9. Just had my windscreen replaced, and there's some silicone sealant/mastik remaining on the paintwork around the windscreen seals (previous owner had applied a layer!). Any ideas on removing it? Cheers
  10. Got a '94 VR6 with a Kenwood cassette stereo and 6 CD changer. Suddenly stopped working on a very hot day during a motorway run. Hasn't worked since - permanent live is fine and earth is fine, but no power on the ignition live feed. Fuse in fuse box (which I guess is for permanent live) and stereo fuse are fine. So I guess I've got a dodgy ignition live ... but am clueless as to how to remedy ... have temporarily rigged stereo to permanent live so pls help before I forget to turn the stereo off and have a flat battery! Many thanks
  11. haven't tried that yet, and fear it may have blown internally, altho that wouldn't explain why the Snooper isn't working in the car (its powered from the ignition live off the stereo feed), or would it?!
  12. earth seems OK! Snooper's working fine off extenal power source ... am stuck!
  13. sorry to be so dim ... any clues on where the earth wire goes to?
  14. a-ha! The permanent main power to h/u is OK and when I turn the ignition on, the secondary power becomes live. Will have a rummage to see if I can find the earth
  15. thanks ... I'm no expert ... so: - what's h/u? - how to check ignition switch (the car's starting perfectly and no other electrical probs) Thx
