this was a wicked car.

A few more pics of my old VR6
Loved this car but its now owned by Lee (useoncedestroy) on this forum - he has done some nice mods to it since these pics were taken.

I had to get rid of the corrado in mid 2009 due to being made redundant a couple of times then moving out to the Middle East for work. I'm back in the uk now but Iv'e put Corrado ownership on hold for a while because i need a car with a bit more space.
I had a C4 Audi Avant 2.8 Quattro a while ago and loved it - It was such a solid capable tourer and awesome in the snow, so i was on the hunt for another....
I sniffed out the perfect replacement - a 1997 S6 avant in volcano black metallic with just about every factory option from new. The car was on the Isle of White but after chatting to the owner It sounded amazing so I took the risk and dragged my girlfriend over there for the day with some cash burning a hole in my pocket.
As soon as i clapped eyes on it i knew it had to be mien - garage kept, full Audi service history, 72,000 miles from new and an original bill of sale for £43,000 in 1997!!!!!

17" speedline they are 5x114 with an offset of 38
I have found some pcd adaptors that make them 5x100 and are 20mm
This makes the offset 18....... the question is; would this be ok on an corrado vr6 or will they stick out too much?
pic of wheel attached - they are lush!

I've been talking to my mate who is doing the work and i'm thinking about some subtle mods to do to the body work....
i was thinking i'd have the door handles painted body colour
the door rubbing strips removed
and the rear number plate surround painted
what do you think..... any more suggestions?
all comments appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I'm not new to the forum, ive had a few corrados in my time but ive just bought this baby. the body is a bit shabby but the best part is the new TSR engine - its as sweet as a nut. ive got a few plans for her. watch this space....

Hi guys, just after a bit of advice really I have seen a really nice set of 17"s by 8"s and was wondering if they fit on my vr6. i dont yet know the offset yet, but apparently they come in various offsets. I think et35 is one.
...So i was wondering what would be the ideal offset to get and also what tyres to use, i had a set of 17 x 7.5 alloys on a previous vr6 with 205 45 17 and that was perfect. will 205 45 17's fit on 17" x 8" wheels?
thanks, Ben

the wheels are made by Antera. I got them because i thought they looked a bit Porschey, and i really like that look.

Its done about 90k, it has cloth recaro seats and it is Burgundy pearl metallic. I've had it for 2 month and am gradually sorting out the few niggley little problems. Overall i'm really happy with it!

Looking to buy some porsche wheels for my vr6, i just want to check i'm working this out right before i splash out.
my vr's offset is 43, the rims i want are 17 inch 8j with an offset of 60....
.... so if i get 18mm spacers that will put the offset back to 42
Is that right... and will the rims fit my vr ok on the front and back - my car is lowered by about 40mm???
HELP. Cheers

glad you decided to keep it tarche2... it looks really cool
-
or is it something i can do myself?
-
thats what it feels like,
does anyone know a good garage that i can take it to?
I'm based in oxfordshire, i dont mind travelling a bit but not too far
I've only had valvers before and never had anything much go wrong with them so never found a corrado/vw specialist
thanks

In my vr6 Ive noticed that when pulling away in 1st and 2nd gear there is kind of a small clunk feeling and a slight jerk just as the gear engages... I'm no mechanic, so I don’t have a clue what it could be, but I do know that it feels a bit crap and I want to get it sorted... any ideas?
Its only subtle and sometimes you don’t even notice it, but I hat things not working right...
Please advise!!
Thanks

The new S6......
72000 miles from new
electric and heated recaro half leather/ alcantara
black headlining
cruise control
xenons
sunroof
climate control
230bhp standard
i want to do a couple of things to it:
1, get it lowered
2, get the 5 cylinder 20v turbo re-mapped to 280bhp
3, get the wheel centres refurbed.
thats it..... what do you think?
