  1. I had the same wire loose on mine and refitted it to the temp sensor on the bottom left of the rocker cover. There are 3 or 4 temp sensors around the engine etc and they are monitored in turn to make sure temps are consistent. If one is disconnected it just gets skipped but it's better to reconnect it.
  2. Cheers for that, i've just placed the order so hopefully i'll return the the land of smooth running sometime soon. :)
  3. I just bought a new set of HTs for my 16v from Euro Car Parts and as per every other set i've seen they don't have the sensor attachment. They are also sealed so I can't disconnect either end and reattach the sensor. Has anyone found a way around this (other than just leaving it off) or is my only choice to send it back to Euro Car parts and finally accept I will have to go directly to VAG?
  4. Same here. Mine sits at about 70 out of town and rarely gets above 110 even stuck in traffic. Do you know if anyone stuck any Radweld in there at any point? That's been know to clog things up to a point that the temps go up.
  5. Sounds very similar to the problem i've just posted. Only difference is that I've replaced the ISV already. It did sort the lumpy running and erratic reving at idle but then the cold start problems began. Now it's got cold it's all over the place and refuses to idle at all. Presuming the IRV is now OK then there must de something else but i'm not sure if it's fueling or electrical and like you don't want to stash loads of cash on random attempts to fix the problem. If you get anywhere i'd like to know what worked.
  6. Can anyone help or at least give me a shove in the right direction? My 2L 16v was running rough at idle and it was diagnosed that the Idle control valve was knackered so I replaced it earlier this year. I noticed it was also running very rich so had the mixture sorted during it's last service. Since then it's started spluttering and sometimes stalling for about a minute when you first start it up but then it settles down and is fine - annoying but managable. However, since the weather turned properly cold it's become impossible, it runs rough and continues to stall and cut out for the first 20 minutes at least. Sometimes it even dies if you lift off at speed and the revs drop - a little scary in a car that relies on the engine running from brake and steering assistance! I've had various theories ranging from a dud cold start valve to a dead coil or knackered HT leads - possibly all 3. But before I go out and stash the vast sums I suspect i'd need for that lot I thought i'd run it past the forum and see what you think. Any advice more than welcome. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif
  7. Yeah, some pics would be good. I just returned the GSF pair i'd ordered but if they can be easily made to fit I might get them back. My car is already de-locked but it hasn't stopped someone popping the Passat handle out of the door and trying to open it from inside so the extra deterant of armour might stop it happening again. Juz
  8. Does anyone know where you can get a pair of amoured door handle plates for the Corrado? I ordered a pair from GSF but they don't fit - they were for the late models with the same handles as the Mk3 golf - mine has the same handles as the Passat. My locks have been popped before and it like to add a bit more of a deterant as well as cover the little dent they caused. Any ideas? Thanks
  9. I've been driving Golfs for years and am considering swapping for a Corrado and would be grateful of any advice of what to look for etc. I've only driven one and although I liked it it was only a short blast and it felt v.different to the Golf which quite surprised me. I am thinking of going for a late 2l 16v as it should be similar in insurance to my current 16v Golf and am wondering if there are any perticular things I should look out for, other than the usual wear and tear. For example, the gearbox on the one I drove felt quite notchy - more so than the Golf. Is this because it has a more sporty, shorter linkage or is there a problem with Corrado boxes I should be looking out for. I know the electrics can be a problem but i've never been too worried about high milage in the Golf so should I be on a Corrado? Any advice welcome Justonge
