Just to update this, I've taken the pads out and they were very glazed. Gave them a good scrub with some sandpaper, re-greased and re-fitted. The noise has pretty much gone now. A free fix!

Steve, Thanks for the reply. Tested the swerving side to side earlier and the car was smooth and quiet so I think I can rule out bearings. David, good shout on the Pads being contaminated!! That'll be tomorrows job now. Cheers for the help guys!

Hello I've got a bit stuck with identifying a noise under braking on my Corrado VR6. Under braking from above 20mph (ish) I get a droning noise from the n/s front wheel which is louder with heavier braking. I've just replaced the outer CV joint as the grease had all leaked out but the noise is still there. (doesn't seem to be as bad though). Pads and discs look OK, however I have taken the pads out of the caliper yet. Is this a wheel bearing problem or a braking problem? Reading the other posts about wheel bearings people describe a droning noise getting louder with speed. This doesn't happen for me. Hope you can help? I'm getting a bit bored of driving the mrs's car to work. Cheers

Hello I thought this would be worth mentioning on the forum. I've recently had my renewal from HIC which was a reasonable price of £450. However I needed to declare the theft of my motorbike which shouldn't make too much difference as it was a different vehicle and on a different policy. I've also insured another bike a month after for £400 fully comp. HIC decided that this affected my premium a lot and put my renewal up by £600!!! That included 5 years NCB (all with HIC) as well. No way I was paying that! Clearly they don't want to hold onto repeat business! So I did a bit of shopping around and have spoken to Sky Insurance who have matched the original renewal quote of £450 fully comp with protected no claims. Alex who I spoke to was very knowledgable about the car and helpful in sorting out the quote. He went away to look into prices and called me back rather than leaving me hanging on the phone. So very pleased with them. Another option for people trying to insure their cars!

Thanks for the reply. Although I have to confess you've lost me a bit when you say an 'open circuit'?

Hello I hope someone can help, I've got a couple of ideas what the problem could be just need some other, more experienced input. I've just changed one of the oil pressure senders on my VR to solve an oil leak. I started the car up and checked for leaks... result.. not a drop! However, I then got in the car and noticed the pressure light is still flashing while the engine's running. I've checked the oil level and that's fine. The wire's connected to the sender so I think i'm left with 2 possible options. 1) I've got a faulty/incorrect sensor. I got it from GSF. They came out and checked it to see if it was the correct one when I bought it. 2) Something need resetting? Is there something else I'm missing? Has this happened to anyone else before? Can you help.
