  1. Many of us are disappointed because the press told us that a new exciting sports coupe was being designed by VW. Then it turns out to be just another Golf. Sure this version has some small differences but it is still a Golf. Many other car companies have products that compete with the Golf too. This car is not supposed to be a Golf. A sports coupe is not as much about practicality as it is about excitement, individuality and sporty good looks. When you arrive in a sports coupe it makes a statement that is different than a just a Golf. Even if we as consumers never purchases an Audi R8 or Porsche 911 we can all aspire to. This production version of the VW Scirocco is not living up to the expectations of the sports coupe name.

  2. Heres a thought- whats stopping Karmann themselves designing and building a true Scirroco/ Corrado successor- styled more in line with Junkies pics? I guess their guys have the knowhow, the production facilites etc- I guess maybe they could base it on VW chassis so parts could still be obtainable etc.

I realise there are a million reasons why it couldn't work but even so- would be pretty cool owning a true Modern Karmann Coupe!

I wish it was possible for Karmann to build a real new Scirocco Coupe but Karmann jus't can't do it at this point. Cars are not easy to selll now days. The only way it could work is if it were a kit car.

  3. That's only because a Rado looks like a Mk1 Rocco.

The real problem with this new MK4 thing is that it is the next "MK6 GOLF!" It is not a Scirocco at all. It is not a Corrado at all. It is a Golf. As a Golf it is a step forward for Golf enthusiasts. The MK5 Golf is a disaster. This Golf is much more sporty and less double decked bus like. I can't even think of this as a Scirocco or Corrado. The name is very wrong.

I showed the first pictures to my Scirocco driver friend at work and he thought it was BMW's new Golf. The rear bumper looks like an X5 or BMW 5 series's bumper cover was bolted on a Golf. Then he noticed that it was a VW so he thought it was a Volvo inspired Golf. Then he asked, "What is it supposed to be?" He could not find any Scirocco in it.

Can VW make a sports car that is not a GOLF?

  4. If the car is right hand drive the A/C condenser will be Diavia as VW never made a Corrado with A/C in right hand drive and Diavia (Dana group) aren't very helpful. Check the Diavia thread for some links that may help but I tried to get a Diavia condenser replaced recently and I had it repaired in the end. The only company who would help basically said send it to use and we will make a new one for around £500.

The car is left hand drive.

    Any help would be great!

  5. My friend purchased a VR6 Corrado that was hit in the front. The radiator and the AC condenser were destroyed. The lower support bracket that holds the two was very badly damaged. He has found out that the parts are different between the VR6 and the G60 versions. Several folks have provided new AC condensers but none of them seem to fit the VR6 car properly. Do any of you know what the proper part numbers and what the differences are between the VR6 and the G60 front components and sheet metal?
