but the brakes are not very good at all!
i have 2 other VW and both have better brakes.
what i was getting at is there's no air in the system. so i suspect theres an ABS problem hence the fact that theres no ABS light.

Thanks

yeah, i know the lghts only the beginning but it's a start.
the brakes needed looking anyway as there hard when the engines off, but squidgy when the engine running.
whats do i need to check because i can't get my code reader to link with the ABS system?

Thnaks For the speedy reply!
there is a double blank there but it's a blank, not a ABS light. looks like someones junked the light as there is a long thin connector behind it which i can only assume is for the light. Anyone got a spare one they want to sell or have a part number?

Right, just had my 95 8v corrado MOT'ed and failed on not having an ABS light let alone a working one! where on the dash should it be? as i've had a look behind the blanks and...... well fankly drawn a blank. tryed to read any ABS fault codes but can't connect with the ecu and the wheels lock up so the ABS is not working.
Anyone got any ideas as i need a light to pass the MOT.

so it is out then. the golf you have to line up the round mark with the gaskit face do you not? which would put it 1 or 2 teeth out and perhaps explan the lack of power above 3.5k rpm.
-
so VW changed the set up procedure? just to confirm its NOT the same as a 8v golf???
i don't think that's a notch just a piece of detritus.

have a look at the below pic and tell me what you think?
cylinder 1 is TDC with the flywheel mark in the right place as well as the dizzy. the valves are closed but i think the valve timing is out if it's the same as my golf?
should the round mark about 1/4 of the way round from the white mark (top) be in line with the cam cover gaskit face?
-
but would that make it feel like it's hitting the rev limiter?
-
ok my GF's new 2.0l 8v hits the limiter at 4250 rpm and feels really flat above 3.5k. its a 95 and the timing belt was changed before i bought it.
do you think it could be a tooth out?
any other surgestions would be apreciated!
thanks Rob

you can download the maping software from MBE's site. what you get for the £200 is a tuning box (what ever that does), cables etc.
if you get DTA etc you will have to pay someone to map it from scratch @ £500+
