RW Masters. Is that the place that does bodywork and paint jobs for superbikes and such things? Had a quick look for a website but couldn't find one. Might have to use the old 'telephone' method.

Does anyone know of a decent bodyshop to take my rado to? I need to get rid of a dent in each door, along with all the stone chips that youd expect on a 15 year old car, and a touch of rust under the spoiler. I live in Worthing (Gods waiting room) in Sussex, although I'm willing to travel a bit on the promise of a good job. Any suggestions?

I think you've been lucky with your local tester. I looked around a fair bit for a place that I trusted to look after the car and do a good job but they wouldn't let it go. I live in Worthing if anyone knows of somewhere. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) I didn't notice a huge improvement with the de-cat pipe on but it was the only mod. Maybe it needs to be backed up by other things to see a noticable gain?

I stuck the black (not stainless) de-cat pipe on my G60 last year to try and avoid buying a new cat for the MOT. Unfortunately, it turns out mine is 2 or 3 months too young to get away with it (mine's on a K plate). I ended up repairing the old cat and sticking it back on. I dont think I get enough of a gain from the pipe alone to justify the hassle of removing+replacing it between MOT's.

Think I might just take it to an pro and say "fix it". It might even be some stupid little problem that'll take 10 minutes to fix.(well, hopefully anyway) :?

Well I'm glad its not a unique breakage at least! I think it broke because I mentioned possibly selling the car earlier on that day. They know! Which option did you go for? A new set of dials sounds expensive. But the I suppose a specialist is gonna cost a load just in labour. Have to see the local VW people again and see what they say. Cheers.

I have a '92 G60. The other day I was quite happily blasting along when I looked down at the dash and was apparently doing 0mph at 0rpm. The two dials have died along with the digital screens, low oil and coolant blinkers and instrument panel back light. The only things still working are the oil and coolant temp gauges. Aswell as this, the spoiler no longer goes up and down automatically which I guess is activated from the speedo. Changed the fuse but this didn't help so may be a relay. Has this happened to anyone else? Any help would be great as I know bugger all about electrics. Cheers.

Hey there. After some advice if possible. I have a G60 and am looking to fit a set of 16x7.5" Borbet 'A' wheels. The thing is, I'm not too clever when it comes to offset and things like that. I want the outside of the rim to be at least flush with the wheel arch, if not sticking out a touch so I can roll the arches out to meet them. Any advice on offset would be greatly appreciated, as well as any advice on where to buy. Cheers.

I'm having trouble with brakes too. The inside front disc is distorted to the point where the excessive heat makes the brake grip. Its like pulling away with the handbrake on when that happens. I stripped the caliper down and cleaned it all up and it has happened again since. Its almost as if the piston isn't retracting far enough. I have new O.E discs and pads now but want to sort out the problem before fitting them.

The thing is, the guy in the shop has tots of experiencs and used to have a G60 himself. The vacuum pump isn't where he expected it to be.
-
Ok, now I'm confused. Have been trying to diagnose the problem in the system and have been visiting the formula one shop in Brighton. The first thing to look at, he says, is the vacuum pump in the boot... oh... there isn't one. Is my G60 the only one with electric central locking? Starting to feel a bit special...

I had a look at them both and there was water in the connection. I dried them off and sprayed them and blocked the passage of water to them on both sides but the problem is still occuring. Maybe water is still finding its way in somewhere. Best have another look. Cheers.

I'm having trouble with my G60 at the moment. It doesn't seem to want to stay locked. I can lock it ok and all seems fine until I return when it is unlocked again. I've had the door panels off but cant find anything that could be causing it. Its completely random, as in it doesn't unlock every time but has started doing it more recently. Its screwing with my melon, and I'm at the point now where I think I need to take it to an expensive diagnostic bloke to sort out. Any ideas of what it could be would be greatly appreciated, especailly if it saves me some wedge. Cheers!

The fluid was low when I got the car but I topped it up straight away. Didn't make any difference though. haven't really had time to properly look at it and trace the steering system but will hopefully get a chance this week. Got a couple of things to go on now. Cheers.

To be honest, the weightiness of the steering isn't bothering me at all. Its just the noise. It's loud at all ranges, not just full lock, and sounds like it could start doing some damage at some point if it hasn't already. Is there anything else it could be or is the pump a pretty safe bet?
-
Just aquired a G60 and absolutely loving it. A few things need tweeking on it including, I think, the power steering pump. The steering is very noisy and is heavier than I think is should be. Is the pump the same as the golf? Any ideas where I can pick one up from?
