zoonders started following 1.8 16V KR Subframe & Rack and Swapping power steering pump flange. Help!
-
I have a 91 1.8 16V corrado. The pump body is pretty much the same but the flange/shaft is longer. I got the pump off ebay for a steal but I'm not sure if it is possible to swap parts on it!

Hiya guys, ok just got a new power steering pump and when i tried to fit it the flange type shaft that the pully mounts on to sticks out about 1/2 inch more than the original so cant get the V belt on, soooooo does anyone know if its possible and if so how do i get the shaft/flange off the motors to swap over? thanx in advance.

Hi everyone. Can anybody tell me my options to replace my pwr steering rack and subframe. I'm having difficulty tracking down 2nd hand parts and I know that there are alternatives. Rack number 192 422 055B! Are the Mk2 Golfs the same?

Does anyone know where to get a manual for my KR corrado? I have bought two different bloody cds off Ebay and neither of them cover my engine type. I have been told that the Bentley manual only covers the G60 & Vr6. Can anyone please help as I am about to restore the car and need some info on my engine type. Cheers Andy

My 1.8 16v does pretty much the same. I think I am getting a bit paranoid everytime I get held up in town as it does get bloody hot but always gets me there. Mine has now done 172k and is currently being restored. I will try and let you all know if I find anything untoward regarding this topic when the engine comes out. Andy

Thanks crasher. I believe that you just pull the injectors out. Is it really that simple? I have also had a whiff of petrol from under the car after stopping so it could be something to do with that Nrv as i believe that it is located somewhere near the external pump. I won't be driving my corrado for a while anyway as i put my disc out in my back for the third time in 2 yrs this morning and as the car is lowered 60mm, i have no chance of gettin in never mind gettin out of it. Thanks anyway. Andy

Can anyone help? My 91 1.8 kr is a bitch to start after it has been run and then stopped for more than two hours. It eventually starts like it is on two cylinders. It starts fine otherwise although it revs a bit too high when cold starting. It also runs cold all the time. The gauge hardly lifts until it has been around town. :(
