  1. After buying a VR6 engine to fit into my Golf and finding the head was damaged beyond repair, I have finally got to the point where my replacement head is ready to stick back on the block! I have rebuilt the head and all is happy but I have a few toque settings I need to trace in order to stick it all back together and i was wondering if anyone can answer the torque settings of the following: Camshaft caps Camshaft timing pulley bolt Timing chain guide bolts Mid timing chain pulley bolt - The one you have to take off to release the chains. Flywheel Gearbox Timing chain cover Head bolt tightening sequence including angle tightening Cam cover Manifolds I have basically stripped the head and changing the timing belts and guides etc and at the same time the clutch so if anyone knows any of the above I would be gratefull for any help. Oh I'll post some pics of a badly eroded VR head, its erroded on cylinder 2 from the water way all the way to the firing ring and is 4mm deep in some places! luckily ebay is there so I cound a replacement fairly swiftly :-) cheers
  2. Been on the phone about10 mins ago but thought I 'd just post on here as well. As I said take it easy and hope you are feeling better, and hope you enjoyed the cuppa. Can't beleive it I had also seen Chris only 1 hour or so before this happened and he seemed fine. Just goes to show we really do have to take care and the fact that such a forum has so much support! I reckon it should go in PVW or something about how supportive the forum is! keep well Chris will speak soon!

lol well I kinda need something to replace the G40 and that was a hoot being 180BHP so I reckon this might just do it! seeings how the body is in as good a condition but some of the mechanics are'nt to great this is the perfect project car so here goes VW project number 2 plus in the winter months with no bike I need something to replace that need for speed. Cheers for the info is very handy will read up more into it but I reckon this is the path I'll take.

    Info needed

I know this would have been put up before but what is required for a 1.8T conversion into a corrado other than all 1.8t parts and what is involved? ie are there new mounts need welding in etc? If there are any usefull links I would be greatfull to be past on to one or any info would be great cheers. Paul
  5. Sure did! wish I had that pay out money now from the G40 cos I'd buy them asap. The fan has just given up the ghost completely now as it does'nt even work on speed 4 but will go and buy a new one tomorrow. Also got the sunroof down properly, the mechanism has totally snapped so need new parts for it but other than that it's all good!
  6. Right guys just fit my new heater matrix, just making sure anyone else who has done this got the same horrible smell from it the first time you used it? not a nice smell suppose the other thing is the ducts will still be full of crap from when it blew in the first place. Hope it goes away quick.
  7. Ah east boldon ain't far from me at all. Well if ya wanna meet up as I don't have much of a clue with sunroofs!
  8. Where is east boldon? I have a feeling it's going to be miles from me! otherwise I'd do that. Well got the thing working, all in all about a 6 hour job andman am I glad it's done. Nice hot air coming out the vents now, only thing to do heater wise is get the fan working at all speeds again. then tackle the sunroof.
  9. Wahay hello Tom, hows it going. I am now onto my second Corrado just bought it on saturday and it's great! Got a 16v as I need to be alittle more sensible now and the G40 was written off by some women so this is the replacement plus I have a bike now to be less sensible on....lol. Enjoy your corrado they are simply great cars and driving them is awsome. Paul.B
  10. I wondered how long it would take for someone to catch on  Yeah glad I got it sorted, now all I have to sort out is the sunroof and stereo and thats it a sorted corrado to drive around in.
  11. Cool got it off and have the new matrix in. just need to stick the dash back on and all is well. I see what ppl mean though about being a pain in the arse it's not difficult just time consuming. cheers guys with out you lot I would have still been standing scratching my head about where the two nuts were.
  12. Nice one! ah yes they are the two, no wonder it's not shifting at all! cool not far now then. cheers guys
  13. Hey guys I need a quick question answered. I am nearly half way into fitting the new matrix well I have stripped the dash of all bits and am ready to remove the dash but I can't cos it's still fastened to something! Can some one just run through where the fasteners are on these things? I have taken the ones on each end off (next tot he doors) not sure about the water way ones? where exactly is this? oh and the bottom centre one is off. WHat am I missing Anyone help? cheers Paul
