  1. Cheers for the advice all, i'm investin in some vag com software, so i can see whats what. Bit i'm coming to the conclusion it needs to go to someone who knows the k-jet system. Well that, or i was half thinking about just ditching it all together and putting some bike carbs on! So had enough of k-jet by now.

  3. Right, stupid question time, i cant find my lamda.... It's seemingly not on the back of the manifold or on the exhaust... In theory it should as its on a K plate, but for love nor money can i find the lamda?!
  4. Update, against better advice i have just been fiddling with the mixture screw, though for some reason mine's 2.5mm not 3mm? BUT this does appear to have been a step in the rigth direction. It's picking up a lot better low down the revs, and not popping so much. I have still only adjusted it maybe a further quarter turn from what i had previously, and no signs of being starved of fuel, pulling upto the redline, so i'm wondering if the previous, seemingly slightly misguided, owner had buggered about with it to the point where it was set to running VERY rich. Will have another tinker tomorrow and see how i get on.
  5. As i said in my OP, the ECU is known to be working, it came out of my mates car, so i'm 99.9% sure it's not that. I need to get a OBD1 cable, as i have the vag com software, but only got an OBD2 cable. Just been out and had a look for those switches, cant see them.... unless i'm not looking in the right place?! There is a black box on the under side of the throttle body, so unless they are housed in there? If someone has a pic that would be helpfull? I think i might just have to bite the bullet and take it to someone knows the peculiarities of the k-jet system!

I had only adjusted the miture screw very slightly, under a quarter of a turn and still seem fine, pulls throught the rev rnage ok, and the not reving to over 1500 was only with the ISV disconnected. Just wanted to see if it made any odd's. It's basically running atm, just not very well! As i say, just very rich, but those mirco switches sound a good starting place. Basically someone had it steup running like the origional k-jet's (no ecu), purely off the metering head, and the fuel pump was running full whack from the second you turned the key when i bought it. The ECU was buggered, and had been bypassed completely, the coil was getting power from the radiator fan!!! There were a few random relays attached to the fuse board, which i've since found out were Ford fule pump relays! So a bit of a sorry state really. But since the new ecu is in and the wiring is back to how it should be, it's running a bit better (It surprisingly didnt run to bad before!) but not hugely, still very rich. I will take a look at those switches over the weekend and see what i can figure out. Cheers for the help so far guys
  7. Alright all, my Corrado refuses to play ball! Every time i fix something, something else goes wrong! There was a load of dodgy wiring under the dash, so it's just been to an auto electrician, had everything put back as it should be, and a known, working replacement ECU fitted. Problem is, now it's running VERY rich, even when it's up to temp you can smell the petrol through the exhaust, and somewhat more noticeably if you give it the proverbial "beans" it's spitting flames out the exhaust between gears!! Now while this is quite cool, in a very childish way anyway, my fule consumption is taking a hammering, cant get much more than 20mpg, even on a motorway run?!? Also it now refuses to idle properly, have atleast got it to idle (it was cutting out) by leaning out the idle mixture via the little allen bolt on the K-jet metering head, and the stop screw on the butterfly valve that the throttle cable connect to. Just tried dissconnecting my ISV, idle seemed margianly better for some reason? But tried taking it round the block, and as soon as you open the throttle slightly it refuses to rev above about 1500 rpm, sounds like it's trying to run on 1 cylinder?! So any1 had similar problems? Or got any suggestions would be much appreciated, as i'm a bit stumped at the moment! Cheers all, James
  8. Very happy to say, after a weekends tinkering it's all sorted! Basically that spigot plate was bent in on it's self, stopping the selector rod moving vertically. Straightened it out, and all was fine! Cheers for the help guys.
  9. Would be very interested mate, where abouts are you based? I will have a better idea of what parts i might be needing by the weekend, going to get the box off and appart, so i will let you know. But hopefully in theory it's just the selector rod and some associated parts, and probably the spigot plate from the underside of the box casing.
  10. It's just a 2.0 16v, nothing interesting i'm affraid! The plan was to just get it running well then get saving for a 20v T conversion. Tho at the moment the C is bankrupting me!

That was my first thought (selector rod) abd having just had a quick look, i'm now pretty sure it is, isn't the selector rod supposed to click up vertically when you try and change into first or second? Cos it's not, and having had a better look tonight i dont think it's selecting 5th either, so thats what makes me think it's probably rather the rod than adjusting the selector cable. Anyone know how difficult a job it is to get the selector rod out to check it out? Alslo quite what is held in place by that blanking plate on the underside of the box? Anynything to be wary of when taking it off? Still just trying to figure out whether it's worth attempting to repair the box, or just replace it (assuming i can source one soonish!) Cheers again all, lol just want my car back on the road! :(
  12. Lol cheers mate, yeh i just found that thread talking about it, I'm hoping it's that simple! Just shelled out £400 odd quid on a load or re-wiring, as the previous owned appears to have had Stevie Wonder rewire the ECU using a 1800 loom and some housold flex!!
  13. Over the weekend, unfortunately, my gearbox has taken a knock, some delightfull little sh** :censored: decided for whatever reason to leave a load of rocks strewn accross the road. They were obviously bigger than they looked, and clouted my box as i went over them. The impact appears to have been on some sort of spigot protruding from the right hand side (as you look at it from the front of the car) of the box, with a covering plate bolted over it, any1 know quite what this is/what it could have moved internally? Currently cant select first, second or reverse, however third, fourth and fifth seem fine, slightly stiffer than usual, but select OK, again any suggestions? I'm trying to work out if it's even worth attempting to get the box repaired, or to just stat looking for a replacement, so any suggetsions as to whats causing the problem would be much appreciated. Or if someone has a second hand box for a 2.0 16v going for a good price would be very interested! As a local gearbox place just quoted me £700 to rebuild mine :( Cheers in advance for any help James I've just been reading the thread on adjusting the linkages at the internal end, I hope and pray it's that simple! Will take a look tonight, but should any1 read this and have any other suggestions it would be much appreciated!!

  15. Alright all, after some VW part numbers for a few bits, tried asking my local stealer but they were less than helpfull! :? So if anyone knows them, or has access to them would be much appreciated. Parts wanted for a '93 2.0 16v: Wishbones with bushings Ball joints Rear axle bushings Rear top mounts (been told you can use the G60 items, which are better? otherwise just the stock ones) Cheers James
  16. Having exactly the same problem trying to locate this part.....! Have tried every local motor parts place (and then some!), looking more and more like i'm going to have to hand over £150 to the local VW stealer! If anyone knows a part number for an alternative part, or a stockist for a replacement part? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Got the guy at one of my local spares place to go through any and every part number on the coil and module, and it turns out the module is a volvo part!? I got a generic replacement coil, but has not done the trick. So i think i need the other part of the assembly in the pic at the top of this thread. Cheers, James

Obviously, but this is the second tank and seems to be averaging about 20 mpg, where my mk2 vavler did more like 30, which is quite a difference considering they are almost the same engine! got a 93 k jet 2.0, and def over fuelling, can smell the unburnt petrol through the exhaust. Noticed a split in the large diameter hose comin off the top of the presure chamber/regulator assembly on top of the airbox, which caused me greef on the golf, so i think it's my first fix! lol.

Alright all, just bought a 2.0 16v, having a very similar problem, had it not start on me once already, and as the car was new to me just callaed the AA out, he seemed to think it was a MAF or fule pump problem.... but didnt sound quite right to me for the symptoms... She runs fine and starts fine once warm, but it's the early morning starts causing problems at the moment! Fingers crossed, not let me down again ... yet! But by the sounds of things this could be a good place to start. I'm gonna do a few service bits and pieces over the weekend, oil change, plugs, air, oil and fuel filters, and see what she's saying, but she's def not 100% at the moment :( Not sure if it's related now (though it was before) but does seem to be running rich, even on a 90 mile motorway run only had 26/27 MPG registering on the MAF...?! My mk2 golf valver i had previously would return (well allegedly any way) upto 40MPG on similar runs! Any pointers would be much appreciated
