I had these on my Rallye until I swapped them for BBS RSs. Autec German made alloys, 7.5J x 16" 35mm offsett. 4 x 100 VW fitment. I had them refurbed and the only marks are on 2 of the alloys were the oaf who took the tyres off marked them. I doubt they'd be visible with tyres back on. Come with the Wolfsburg Edition centre caps as shown. Collect only from Barrowford near Burnley. PM if interested. £150

For future reference the answer was this - "I'd bet it's an after-market radio... He needs to disconnect a wire on the back of the stereo which the original stereo would have used for speed controlled volume variation... (ie, the faster you go, the louder the stereo gets!) What tends to happen is that someone uses it either as an earth which stops being an earth as you start the car moving, it gets connected to the phone-mute connection (car moves, stereo mutes!), or the stereo simply doesn't like getting power shoved onto a random pin it's connector... Normally his spoiler won't work properly either when he goes over 56mph.... " It was a Blue/White wire by the way.

Disastrous Clatter From VR6 - tensioner bolt causes rebuild!

I might get the chance to drive it more than 300 yards when it eventually comes back. I've forgotten what colour it is  -

That is what I mean. Doesn't matter how robust the engine is, if the timing chain goes then you have problems. The problem here has been wear to the timing chain assy. And so, despite the robustness of the engine as a whole, the weak point, in this instance, was the timing chain. -

I wondered if anyone else would question that, the VR6 is in my experiences, one of the toughest, robustly designed engines around. But not when the timing chain goes. Which seems to be the case. -

The more I read of this, the more it puts me off buying a VR6 engined anything. -

Makes me thing it's valve related then, valve or tappet. As opposed to chain which I'd have thought would have been constant. But, what do I know  -

I've read somewhere about sticking valves being cured by a fluid change. Now the sensors are OK try stamping on the brakes and checking to see if the ABS does work. -

In a word NO - if you're not sure then don't do anything. You'd be better off with an auto electrician checking it. -

Some clues here - http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=19341.0 You really do need to get the brake fluid changed. -

The "weary looking hose" looks like the Power steering hose to me. The readings on the ABS sensors could mean the rears area at fault. I can't remember now if a high reading is good or bad. Re the oil leak, clean it all up then you'll have a better idea of where it is coming from. The resistor thingy looks like a dim dip resistor! All in all, apart from the gearbox noise and the ABS woes, there's not a lot to worry about. Come down tomorrow if you like and we'll have a good look over it.
