  1. Well to be honest it is mine, I only found out when a prospective purchaser came and did a HPI check at the last minute, I was ready to let it go for £2k for a quick sale and so that I could get a cheap run around for work. Now im up the shitter to be honest. Lee
  2. What would you expect to pay for a VR6, late model with relatively low miles that has been previously registered as a cat c write off..... Cheers guys, Lee
  3. Nigh on a grand then. Ok thanks. Lee
  4. how much did this all set you back if you don't mind me asking? Lee
  5. Well it was under those pipes I saw a liquid of some sort drop out and boil away....... Lee
  6. Hello, I seem to be having the same problem here. I am going to post some pictures to show where the steam seems to originate from and I have indeed seen some liquid drop and boil when hitting the part of the engine under the yellow X I have placed. Hopefully this is just a pipe and can be easily replaced. Can you also please tell me if this might cause the steam to appear like it is coming from the whole block...... I seem to be able to recreate the steam under hard acceleration, if I have the bonnet open and rev hard it seems to force a leak, and when driving at around 30+ I can hear a whirring sometimes but not always and its not very loud. 7. Not neccesarily selling up, but I obviously did not see the possible head gasket coming, thought it seemed fine, from driving it today it seems that every so often something (I assume its coolant) drips onto a hot part of the engine and evaporates causing steam, so it is not a constant which makes me think maybe just a leak as opposed to head gasket.... Anyway, my problem is that I cannot afford to have a car in the garage for too long while works are carried out due to needing it everyday all day tbh, so if it transpired works needed to be carried out then I would look to sell and pay towards another car, may sound stupid but I am not left with much choice. Also the cooland doesn't seem to drop really..... It has heated leather, the alloys and lowering springs mentioned above (40mm I believe) a sony cd player, everything is original except I changed the grill to an FK badgeless one, I still have the colour coded original, and some shitty aerial that when I get around to it will be changed. 8. Out of curiosity, my VR, 104k on the clock, not got a great deal of history, lowered with springs on standard shocks, 16" RS4 reps, standard apart from some uprated brakes on the front. It seems there is an issue with the cooling system, possible head gasket I am not sure tbh as im not the best mechanically, so if you were to take into consideration the possibilty that this needed doing to the car, what price would it fetch do you think...... 9. I have got a feeling I bought the blue stuff you are reffering to, the liquid was definately blue anyway, just strange that the first 15 minute DRIVE not blast left it pouring with steam, but later that day after a round trip to gatwick at motorway speeds, 90 minute journey there was no sign of over heating..... I don't understand. Also the temp needle still only moves slightly, maybe 4 mm from its starting point, and that seems to be when I should expect it to be hot, maybe when idling for a while or stuck in traffic....but will never go any further and will return to the resting point when cooled enough... Lee
  10. Well, my coolant was a little below the minumum yesterday so filled it up with some I bought from halfords, after a short drive the engine was steaming...does this mean I have put the wrong coolant in the car??? I had the coolant changed alongside an oil change last month....... By the sounds of it I should be getting another coolant change asap along with the temp sensor..... Lee
  11. I want to attempt this fix on the weekend, anyone that can help with what to replace to try and sort my water temp problem in the engine bay.... I did notice on a run through London on Sunday that the water temp needle seemed to rise very slightly for one of the first times, we are talking 7-8mm. Does this mean there is life in there somewhere, can I get the replacement sensor from a VW dealer still...... Is it easy to fix/attach. Lee
  12. Funny enough it was looking through the pistonheads parts page that I stumbled across them..... Just curious to see them on a C, cannot afford to risk going for it without being fairly confident. Lee
