I dont think so, one of the pipes comes from the top of the engine into the matrix (which is hot) & the other goes to the bottom of the engine (which is cold). Could i do damage if i run the car like this?
-
I wouldn't know i'm afraid. where would i find it?
-
excuse my ignorance, what valve?

I changed my heater matrix last week and today i actually got round to flushing the coolant and connecting the hoses back to the matrix but no hot air :cuckoo: I drained the original coolant and after i had flushed it I poured coolant through a funnel into the matrix pipe untill it was running out the other pipe, then connected the hoses back up and ran the engine till it was hot. I had no hot air in the car and when i felt the pipes coming out of the matrix, one was hot and the other was stone cold. What have i done now, i usually fcuk something up when i do a job!

My windscreen has a drip coming through the sealant at the top and also gives off a whistle when traveling along, what is the best way of sorting this? If i call out autoglass or similar will they remove the screen and refit it properly or is there another way? all help appreciated :D

Did the job today, found it really simple to do. I started to do it without the taking the dash out but after a short while of sratching my head thinking how the hell is that going to come out i decided to take it out. A lot easier than i thought, i suppose most of it was in my head when you start thinking of taking out the dash, i didnt realise i would be as simple as taking out 6 bolts and pull the bugger off! All in all it took by about a day with plenty of fag & tea stops  if anybody stumbles on this thread when searching i would strongly recommend these links as 'how to' guides.... http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... ATOR+STALK cheers

Thanks for the replys chaps, I think I will have a go at it with the dash in, If i struggle i will take it out. I might give it a go this week. i will let you know how it goes!

Right folks, I am about to replace my matrix and like many other people on here I keep hearing rumours that it can be done without taking out the dash, could people that have done the job confirm or deny if this is possible please, personally im dreading taking out the dash and would obviously like to do it the quickest and easiest way. Also, does any one have any tips on drying out the sound proofing? I stripped out all the carpets a few weeks ago to dry but no matter how long i leave the sound proofing/insulation stuff in the sun it is still soaking wet! I presumed it was the coolant chemicals or something, i dont really want to put it back in til its dry. any ideas? opinions appreciated chaps, Dash in or Dash out?

My car is still fine but it was like yours, just waiting for it to start going wrong again!
-
I didn't change the sensor, it has just fixed itself after a good thrash! I dare say it will go wrong again soon though, when it does I will get a scan, local Veedub specialist will do it for £30
-
this is wierd :cuckoo: I was going to take it to a local VW specialist this week for a scan but today i went on a long motorway drive (without breaking any speed limits, honest officer :norty: ) and the car has sorted itself out! could that mean that a had a stuck valve or something?
-
I cant see the wood from the trees with where this is supposed to go, If anyone can help please do. The photos are what i can see and the part VW supplied me with.

can any one help? I have found this thread but i am struggleing to find the sensor.... http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... e+plastics I have taken off the coilpack and undone 2 hex bolts. once removed that lets me see into the engine but i can not see where the sensor should be? any clues?

just done all the ECU reset malarkey to the letter (apart from the VAG-COM bit cos I dont have it.) with no joy, still waiting for the stealers to ring me back so i can order the bit. I will ask them when they eventually call me back but does anyone on here know what VW charge to plug it in to their diagnostic computers?
-
tell me more about this VAG-COM :D Where can i get it?
-
sounds just like mine, I dont know any other VR owners unfortunately but if i can get one for £40 its worth a punt I just phoned the Stealers, they did not have a camshaft sensor on file but they did offer me the following.... engine speed sender £78.28 or an Impulse sender £38.29 any clues?

I am confused that this happend before but was sorted by disconnecting the battery, I am 99.9% sure it is not a misfire, when the problem started a few days ago the car was fine at low revs but got juddery as speed built up, almost to the point that i did not feel comfortable taking it above 60/70. Over the last couple of days it has changed to being juddery at low revs and getting better as the revs build up, how does that compare to your exeriences PaulmoVR6?
-
Hello folks, I wonder if anyone can help? My VR6 is not running verywell at the moment, when you first turn the key the engine is very 'shakey'. when stationary you can feel the car juddering with the motion of the engine. When you accelerate away it is still juddery untill you build up the revs, if i am crusing in 3rd and go to 5th gear the car really doesnt like it and will go very juddery again I have come accros this problem twice before..the first time was after i disconnected the battery but after a 20mile drive the engine sorted its self out. I did read on here that it may have been because the engine management had reset its self. About 6 weeks ago the same problem started, it had been running fine but 1 day the engine was all juddery again. I disconnected the battery for a while, then went on a hoof down the A14 and bingo, it sorted its self out again. I presumed that the engine management had reset its self again. The car has been running perfectly ever since untill this week. This time i cant get rind of it no matter how long i leave the battery off for and no matter how long i drive for. Has anybody any clues what could be causing this? thanks ed

is there any way of just turning the whole thing off? would that over-ride the imobiliser? does this pic help any?

after a bit of poking around my self i have been able to find this........ I have disconnected everything but the chuffing car still wont start! am i on the right tracks or a mile away?

Hi folks, (sorry mods, i know this is in the wrong bit but im just after some hits and some help really quickly as i need my car back on the road by tonight for work!!!) I disconnected my battery today, connected it back up and an alarm that i didnt even know i had has kicked in, the car wont start and all the indicators are flashing! Since i have owned the car i have never used the alarm as to the best of my knowledge it has never worked (I have a foxguard alarm fob but it has never done anything) I have always used the immobilser before starting the car (thin black one that you have to hold near the ignition barrel for a couple of seconds) and the car will always start. What has happened is the alarm light on the dash board (underneath the heater vent) has jumped into life and is just flashing away and it seems to be overriding my immobiliser as the effing car wont start now! I have found a red button down by the spoiler switch but that doesnot seem to do anything All help appreciated as i need the car back on the doad by tonight to get to work!! If anyone can help my number is 07795 261769 cheers!!!

Its Coolant, there is 122'000 on the clock but if memory serves me correctly it had a new head gasket at approx 80'000 I have not noticed any major coolant loss though
-
I noticed a couple of days ago a very small leak in the head gasket( left hand side of the engine by the air box), to be honest it is more of a weep but it is still enough to get me thinking bad things :( Would there be any harm in running some kind of sealant through the cooling system to try and prevent it getting any worse? Has anyone got any experience of using this type of soloution? I fixed a head gasket leak on my old Scirocco but i appreciate that the VR6 engine is a bit different from my old 1.6GT Any help appreciated
