  1. Apparently ive been told it's because the non-standard exhaust is hitting against the heat shield. Makes an awful noise when accelerating but apparently isnt doing too much harm and is 'more of a nuisance' than a hazard. Cheers for all the help tho, now it's not going because it isnt firing and there's nothing getting passed the ignition coil so i'll change that next and fingers crossed that'll do the job. If not i'm stuck.
  2. Got it sorted at the garage. Apparently the ignition barrel had gone so they put a wire from the ignition feed to the radio so it now works only if the car is on. Unfortunately now i cant get started as car wont start! Had funny issues with low oil/battery warning lights coming on even tho both are fine and now car simply turns over without firing. No power is coming from ignition coil so i'm going to change that this evening but if it's not could it be something to do with the ignition barrel or solenoid? Will be having it towed to a garage if the ignition coil doesnt fix it i think.....
  3. spoiler still works using the manual button in the car.... otherwise it goes up at 60mph but not back down again, as it has done since i got the car! The non-speaker iso has a black wire going off in the same direction as the speakers (?) then a blue/white, a blue/grey, a brown/red, a thick grey and a thick red/white which all go in the same direction. Unforunately i havent got any way of taking a picture of it. Looking at the connector on the back of the stereo only the two thick wires, the black one and the brown/red appear to connect to the stereo. Could there be a fuse somewhere else? I've tested the radio one in the fusebox and the one on the back of the stereo, where else could i look? cheers
  4. Maybe.... just surprised there's no flicker getting through even when i wiggle about at the back? Seems to be two iso connectors, one with wires for the speakers and one with the other wires. Is all a bit tight behind the stereo ay!
  5. Couple of questions please...... Is it easy to change from the standard 4x6 speakers in the rear to some 6x9 ones? Kept them from my old mini i used to have and quite like to put them in the corrado. And secondly my head unit has stopped working. Not even a flicker of life showing when i turn the car on. Checked fuse in fusebox (radio fuse number 22) and the one on the back of the head unit but both fine. What shall i do next? Cheers Oh and is it possible to get remote unlocking? What sort of cost? Have central locking which unlocks both doors and boot (although is a different key to the ignition) but quite like to have it on a fob. Thanks for any advice.....
  6. found the fusebox and checked fuse which is fine. Now checked fuse on back of stereo which is also fine...... What else could it be! Put old stereo in as well and that similarly does nothing so no power is getting to the stereo at all. Any ideas how/where to check next? and just when i thought it was all fixed.
  7. now i've switched over the head unit and everything seemed to be perfect (thanks for all the tips) until yesterday i was listening to it quite loudly and it stopped working. Have since tried connecting old one and this also shows no sign of movement...... I assume a fuse has gone somewhere. How do i go about checking the fuses?dont even know where fusebox is and certainly don't know which one is for the stereo if anyone can help? thanks
  8. great thanks. also ive inherited some 6"x9"'s from my old car, is there anywhere they can fit in easliy and will they help in any way? think everything in it at the moment is standar, was thinking of switching them with the currant one's in the back but dont want to be cutting holes....
  9. yea i've tried the fader, sort of thing i'd miss! I'll check the back of the stereo first when i get home. How do i go about taking the door card or pod grill off if i need to? Just not sure where the wire runs through to get from the stereo to the speakers. Can i thread another wire through if needed? cheers for your help....
  10. Recently bought a 2l 1994 corrado and the two right hand speakers at the front don't work (one in the door, one on the dash). On the left they both work fine but not on the right..... Got stereo out to look behind but not really sure what i'm looking for and car audio shop want to charge me £90 minimum to have a look at it. Where should i start! Any help appreciated.
  11. Thanks....... Should have worked that one out really! Also i've got a whole from a stone chip in what of the headlights. Went through MOT ok but got lots of condensation on the inside. Is there anywhere I can get a replacement lens or do I have to replace the whole unit? Similar with one of the foglights too, although that's only cracked. What sort of money am i looking at?
  12. Thanks for all your help, the advice is very much appreciated. The spoiler never comes down, i have to remember to use the button to put it down when i'm getting out of the car. Think it may just be that the suspension is weak as it happens when even only two people in the car, just on one side something scraping when going round corners but sure it's not the wheel on the wheel arch. Will see if there's a garage local to take it to...... If i did have to change the suspension is this an expensive process? Be a bit of a shame but doing up a house in devon and live in guildford so will be lugging heavy items back and forth so would like to make sure the scraping is fixed. Speaking of which can i get a roofrack for the corrado? Wouldnt want it on all the time obviously but would came in useful. Also, and I know this sounds incredibly dumb, but i'm having a little trouble operating the rear windscreen wiper! Can get it to operate when pushing the arm away when it sprays the windscreen but how do i get it on normal? Only ever driven old mini's before and so never had a rear windscreen wiper! thanks again.......
  13. I decided to upgrade cars recently and did so a little naively knowing little about cars but smitten by the corrado. Went for a 2litre 16valve as seemed most appropriate for me. Since I have had it I've found a few little faults (spoiler goes up at 60 but doesnt come down, one of the speakers doesnt work...) but since having passengers in the back I've found that when accelerating or going round corners there is a grinding noise from the back left wheel arch. I dont think the car has been lowered, at least it doesnt look like it has. It just sounds like suspension isnt strong enough and its scraping on something in the suspension. Was wondering if the wheel arch was scraping on the wheel but I think it's in the suspension somewhere..... Is that possible? Is there anything I should check? Are there any parts I could replace? Also any other tips on things I should check on the vehicle or books I should read/get/advice would be much appreciated!
