I am sure their are docs on this in the archive, but behind the glove box is the blower motor, and on top of that the speed control unit, i found mine had melted and burnt the insulation, if you pop out the glove box ( 4 screws) you should be able to inspect it with a torch :) hope this helps! Fire risk

I know this has been discussed and I have read a warning on this, but I thought it best to post this again jsut incase anyone is new to Corrados or had forgotten like me! Whilst taking the dash out to change my heater matrix, I was shocked to see that the heater speed control (mounted on top of the blower unit) at some time had caught fire! I have attached the pic and believe this was pre me owning the car, but I would say its worth popping the glove box out and giving it a check over, which could be done in 10 mins. Sorry if u know about it, but if you dont I hope it helps! S
  5. if your stripped it down yourself;f etc it would be cheaper :) latest pics...
  6. not at all mate, the first job i had done was just the outside paint ie not the shuts etc and they did it for just under a grand, which was good value for the work, but it was a colour change from flash red to tornado with the black roof -. So this second job i am having done was initially just going to be the shuts etc for another 500 but i got a bit carried away and decided to have it all done again with all the windows out etc and the inside of the bonnet, so the second complete job is £1750 which is still great value as its a lot of work! They dont mind you coming down and 'having a look' and its all done in a good oven etc. i posted the number earlier in the thread if you want something doing speak to marcus the manager ( who used to run a vw approved body shop back in the 90's which makes him perfect for the rados! ) hope that helps Seb
  7. its the VW tornado red - the early ones came in it and I had a Mk2 in it. It looked very bright in the pics sent over, I went down there last night and have taken a few more attached - cant wait to get it back! It has not been polished yet so should look even better. Its done at Chertsey Coachworks - talk to Marcus 07810000800 - they are very reasonable, and have good ovens etc say you were recommended by Seb and VW Forum. They are good for full respray or minor bits/wheels etc
  8. :) i thought i had bought a rotrex lol! you are right, if anyone has the stage 2 map for this for obd1 phase 2 ( coil pack) i would be rather appreciative - I have a chip burner Thanks its getting there
  9. Have put the car back in for paint work as the last job was a quick one and I hadf not had the shuts etc done and this time its getting alot more attention. Always happy to recommend the painter jct 10 of M25
  10. i had a lot of debate over gloss or matt, and whither to do the rear pillars as well, but had seen some already done like that and was not that keen, I love it, it looks good with the spoiler up as well. Now just debating if any black goes on the bonnet! But it think it may stay as is for the moment :)
  11. i got the diff, gearbox and clutch for 1500, i could not afford it but had to be bought at that price, its the best thing :)
  12. i cant rate it enough - it transforms the standard engine - your always in the power abd it makes a great noise too :) got to do the brkes just bought some 312 tt brakes for the front
