  1. Hi i finally finished my exams so think it is time to fix my car up so that its safe to drive lol. Currently i'm having problems with the brakes, i found out its the master cylinder on its way out so thats gonna be replaced tomorrow. I got this rubbing noise on the front of the car and i don't know what it could be. I had someone look at it and he goes the hub on the front passenger wheel wasn't very secure, apparently when he jacked the car up, the wheel was allowed to wobble quite a bit (he thought the wheel would drop off when he was driving it lol). Could anyone help me to figure out what the rubbing noise could be, might be the bearings as i doubt these have been changed for a long long time. The sound goes away when i turn the wheel slightly, its only there when i am driving straight and goes in sync with the speed of the car, faster i go the faster the noise goes etc. Please could someone help me!!! Much Appreciated!!! Thanks Pink$
  2. Hi i have the same problem with my brakes, turns out to be the master cylinder. I am having it replaced tomorrow and its gonna cost £216 altogether. Thing is i know my wheel bearings are gone too so i will need to get these changed!!!! I had my brake system bled and it didn't solve the problem with the brakes so i would get it checked out asap if i was you!!! HTH Pink$
  3. Hi everyone, my car has been acting up recently, the brakes have ceased to work and when i try to brake the pedal sometimes hits the floor without much effect. The brakes sometimes are o.k and then they go really bad, i had someone look at it and he suggested it is the Master cylinder. The brake system has been bled but still no improvement also he said that the back brakes had no fluid going to them and that the servo pipe or servo was gone??? How much does a new MC cost and is it hard to fit in>?? Does anyone know of a place where i can get my car fully checked out for cheap, i stupidly phoned the dealership and they said £174 (plus a Vodka and Tonic (VAT)). I don't want to spend that much just to have the car checked out lol. I could half the problems with that money!!!! I live in south london so if anyone knows of a good place for me to take the car please let me know. Thanks Much appreciated!!! Pink$
  4. Hi i have the same problem with my car, jus got the car back from the mechanic today to hear some very bad news. Apparently the driveshaft has gone, thats why you hear the noise. I not sure if he chattin rubbish or what but gonna take it somewhere else to get the whole car checked out.
  5. Hey Steve thanks for the advice, will get the garage to do that. Once i get my brakes and pas leak sorted i'll get the C.V. joints replaced and hopefully the car will run perfectly!!! :D Whats really weird is all day today my brakes were fine, no spongeyness at all, its intermittent. Some times its really bad or jus normal, kind of like the weather  Pink$
  6. Hi I live in south london so if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it a lot. The PAS hoses are being replaced, i just want my car to return to its best state. The performance is really bad now as well which is annoying!!! The guy in kwik fit said he'll fix all the parts at no labour cost and give the car a tune up so i might as well let him sort the problems out. Not sure if the weird noise will go away but i am gettin the following replaced: front and rear discs and pads pas reservoir pas hoses sump gasket I been priced all the above for 250 which is reasonable to me. Need to get the C.V joints replaced too which will cost another 100 or so. Will keep ya posted on what happens!! Thanks :D Pink$
  7. Thanks for the advice guys, well am waiting for the kwik fit guy to price up the parts for the job as the power steering hoses are going to be replaced as well as the reservoir, its leaking so he's gonna replace it. Should have everything fixed by this weekend i hope as i'm pretty warey when driving the car in traffic. Thanks Again will keep ya posted :D Pink$
  8. Hi thanks for the quick replies. The brakes are really bad but the thing is they are intermittent so sometimes the pedal will touch the floor sometimes they are perfect which is the weird thing lol. I'm trying not to drive it much until its fixed. I don't get any juddering when braking or feel anything weird through the pedal. Could it be the discs?? If i get these replaced then everything should be back to normal right?? At Kwik fit the guy said that one part of the discs was something like 18mm and the further on it was 21mm which means that the disc is uneven. I'm well confused can someone help me sort this problem out!! I don't like my car parked up, i want to drive it :) Thank You :D :D Pink$
  9. Hi hope someone can help me, my car has started to make a weird kind of noise when driving along, I cannot feel anything through the brake pedal whilst it is making this noise but the faster i go the quicker the sound goes if that makes sense. It sounds like a train sound and i'm sure its coming from the front wheels. My brakes have gone really really bad recently and when i try to stop the car sometimes the brake pedal touches the floor and the car still moves (VERY DANGEROUS). I had the brakes checked over and the mechanic at Kwik Fit said that the brake discs up front need changing and the system needs to be bled, will this solve the problem with the brakes??? The brakes are going to be fixed soon but i don't know what the noise is. I also get a weird noise like something is rubbing on the passenger side front wheel, it also gets faster when i drive faster. I know i need to get my C.V. joints replaced as i get a knock sound when turning and its not the alloys rubbing on the arches. I'm not very mechanic minded so please could someone help me out. Many Thanks!!!! :D :D Pink$
  10. The fluid was changed about a month ago. I didn't empty out the old fluid just topped it up with the proper fluid that should be used (searched on here for the right brake fluid) not sure what could be wrong. Also found out my back passenger tyre is punctured. Would this make a difference to the brake?? I filled the tyre up with air on sunday and it was flat yesterday so I will have to replace it tomorrow. Thanks for the help Pink$
  11. Hi everyone, i'm having problems with my brakes and clutch, sometimes my clutch feels heavy and the car does not pick up as it should do. Recently the brake pedal has become very spongey, sometimes so bad i have to brake up to 3 times the distance i normally would as i'm not sure whether the brakes will even stop the car lol. The brake pedal has to be pushed down a lot compared to before. If I pump the brake it gets slightly better for a little while. I'm not sure what could be wrong with the car, maybe air in the brake system but then the clutch wouldn't be having problems unless one of the cylinders have gone. I don't know much about cars so any help would be great. What would I need to replace because I don't really want to drive the car when the brakes are not performing very well. Thanks much appreciated. Car is a 1.8 16v with 68000 on the clock. Pink$
  12. Hey the car has done very low mileage but the previous owner did not look after it properly hence the problems. I will get the PAS fluid tomorrow and top it up. Yeah the leak is from the pipe connecting to the reservoir i think, will have a look tomorrow morning. Will have to get a garage to look at the car to see whats wrong with it. Thanks!! Pink$ :D
  13. Really?? Oh Oh sounds expensive. Is it best me taking it to a specialist and asking them to check it out?? Thanks!! :D
  14. Thanks for all the help!! Will go about changing the clutch tomorrow morning!!! Also need two new C.V. Joints!! Gonna be an expensive month. :D :D Pink$
  15. Jus found what the yellow reservoir is. Its the Power Steering fluid. Where can i get this replaced from? Will a VW dealership rip me off if i ask them to change it for me? I have only had repairs done on the car once so i don't really know of any garages. Also how much would a complete clutch kit cost?? Thanks
  16. Thanks for the clutch advice!!! Hi yeah the small yellow reservoir is just behind the radiator fan and more towards the passenger side. I couldn't find anything in the manual for this as my manual only shows a G60 engine which is different to mine. Pink$
  17. Thanks for the quick reply. Guess i gonna have to get the clutch replaced. Might as well tomorrow!!! By the way what is the small yellow reservoir which is towards the front of the engine bay. This is below the MIN line and seems to be leaking. I was thinking PAS fluid but there is nothing to say that in the manual. Could this be the reason why my steering is slightly heavy and squeeling sometimes??? Thanks!!!! :D :D Pink$
  18. Hi everyone, newbie here!! Having a few problems with my 1.8 16v Corrado. Recently its not been performing as usual, i had the accelerator cable changed and after that i saw the performance that comes out when you floor the gas in 1st gear. Now when i do the same the revs go up to the red line but the speed doesn't match the revs (makes a loud rev sound and is doing around 20 - 25 mph). I think its something to do with the clutch as the biting point has now changed and when i lift the clutch slowly the car leaps instead of slowly moving away. Also when i reverse the gear crunches. A weird thing i noticed since ages ago was that the revs always sit above the 1000 mark and then when i tap the pedal they go back down to the 1000 mark. The brakes feel rubbish compared to before, think i need to replace the fluid, Could this be the reason for the poor performance as the clutch fluid and brake fluid are from the same reservoir?? I don't know what could be wrong with the car at the moment  The engine sounds different from before too, more like a diesel than a 16valver!! and when i turn the steering wheel i hear a whining noise. Please could anyone help me as I don't know what is up with the car. Many Thanks in advance!!! :D :D Pink$
  19. Hi just got my corrado and it is in need of body repairs and a full respray. The car is dented all over and the mechanic who is repairing it at the moment asked if we had been stock car racing in it. Thats how bad the bodywork is at the moment, i'm hoping to get it repaired right away. Can anyone recommend me bodywork repairers and resprayers inside London as all the ones i have seen are far away from London. Thanks, Much appreciated. pp137
